Old miners cottage with stunning lake views
Beautifully renovated, old miners cottage with stunning views over the lake towards Grizedale forest. The cottage is perfectly located, perched just above Coniston village at the foot of the mountain. It's a short stroll down the hill to the village, with its many amenities, and to the lake. Walks up the Old Man of Coniston begin from right outside the house. The stable door opens into the cosy and welcoming lounge with comfortable seating and a TV. The window has views over the lake. There is a beautiful fireplace with exposed slate and a cast iron stove. You can buy wood at the garage in the village. The kitchen diner has a newly fitted kitchen with integrated appliances including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, induction hob and oven. There is a table and seating for 4 people. At the rear of the property is a small utility area with a washing machine and places for coats and muddy boots. There is also a downstairs WC. The lounge and the kitchen are divided by a stairway in the centre of the room. Note there are no handrails on the top few stairs. Bedroom 1: Double bedroom to the front with stunning views across Coniston Water. Kingsize bed with solid oak wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bedroom 2: Twin bedroom to the rear. There are 2 single beds with solid oak wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bathroom: Upstairs bathroom with toilet, basin and luxurious walk in shower. Note there is no bath in the property. Garden: There is no garden however there is a small bench outside the front of the cottage from which you get a beautiful view over the lake. There is a small paved area with a bistro garden table and chairs at the back of the property. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the cottage, care should be exercised and children should be supervised at all times especially around the staircase, the upstairs windows and the wood burning stove. The cottage has self check in and out via a key box. Access to the cottage is via a steep single track lane. There are 2 ways up and one is particularly twisty so the best way is to ignore the SATNAV and once in the village, proceed up Station Road which is diagonally opposite the garage. Follow the road round to the right and then to the left when you will quickly come to a 3 ways junction. Take the road that goes diagonally up the hill on the right signposted "The Banks". The road is very steep but it soon levels out and takes you to directly outside the cottage. There is a designated parking spot in the space at the far end of the row. We can be contacted by email, phone or text. We do not live locally so will not be near during your stay however in case of emergency you will be able to contact our service company. Coniston is a lovely village with some great pubs and restaurants. It also has some good shops including a fantastic bakery. The lake is a few minutes walk and has a boating centre where you can hire all sorts of boats and bikes. Grizedale forest is a short drive away and has many things to do with great off road bike trails, walks, and Go Ape. There are tons of great walks in the area. We’ve several walking guide books in the cottage that you are welcome to use to find a good route. The lanes to the cottage are steep & narrow! Please drive carefully.
