17th Century house on Petite Creuse River
17th Century French Rural farmhouse set within an acre of land, nestled besides the Petite Creuse river in central France. The house has 2 large bedrooms, 1 bathroom/shower, 2 toilets, open plan lounge and kitchen plus a garden room that leads out to a large patio & separate firepit area. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, rivers, lakes and quaint villages. The house is in a sleepy hamlet at the end of a no through lane. A truly relaxing place to unwind. We have internet and phone connection. Three story typical Creusoise farmhouse fully equipped for 6 people. The house is full of French charm with original oak floorboards, beamed ceilings & exposed stonework. Large open plan lounge equipped with large corner sofa, WiFi and internet connection, widescreen TV connected to ceiling speakers, Bluetooth connection for music, DVD player, Xbox 360 with games & woodburning stove. We have a selection of English DVDs / TV with cinema sound, books and board games to keep you occupied. There is no TV reception - so the TV only works for playing DVD's or Xbox. There is an HDMI connection for laptops. Within the open plan kitchen there a dining table for 6, a double sink, electric hob, fridge freezer, microwave, electric oven, dishwasher, kettle & toaster. There is garden room with a sofa that leads from the lounge to the patio with beautiful views down the garden . A toilet and washbasin lead off this room. On the 1st floor, there is a large master bedroom with a kingsize & single bed (bedding provided) , a large wardrobe, bedside tables and lights. On this floor there is a bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin. Towels will be provided. Please bring your own beach towels. Stairs lead from the landing to the loft room, which has a double & single bed. Bedding provided. The room has a large velux window with blackout blind, wardrobe, chest of drawers and sofa. The gravel patio has a picnic table for 6 with an additional bench seat and garden loungers. There is a BBQ with utensils - coal will be provided for your 1st BBQ , you can buy more in the local Intermarche . There is a 90cm firepit on the lower patio - wood provided (restrictions on use may apply in summer months ). Please clean the BBQ and empty the ash into the ash bin provided after use. There are also a few outside games such as badminton & boules and halfway down the garden there is a large netted trampoline. The Petite Creuse river is at the bottom of the garden, a great place to play, chill out and relax. In front of the house there is a large gravel drive with parking for 3 cars. There is a wood burning stove with a free supply of logs and there are storage heaters in the bedrooms, and a towel heater in the bathroom. Within 20 mins are the beautiful villages of Cheniers, Bonnat, Dun-le-Palestel, Le Celle-Dunoise and Aigurande, all with supermarkets. If you want to spend time on nearby lakes or rivers, head to Crozant, Bourg- d'Hem, Anzeme (Les 3 Lacs), Eguzon or Le Celle-Dunoise There are many walks and cycle rides from the house or you can head into Chateauroux Forest or Gueret Forest (600 km of MTB single track). Gueret Forest is also home to a large wolf sanctuary, huge maze and high rope adventures. There are a number of ruins and restored castles to visit such as Crozant, Cluis and Sarzay. Changeover is usually Saturday during July, August, Christmas and school holidays and minimum 6 nights. During other months we offer a 4 night minimum stay. Please contact us for booking - we can be flexible The house, garden and river are yours exclusively to enjoy. The house has a barn attached which will be locked with no access for guests. The house & changeover will be managed by a neighbour who lives within the hamlet and speaks English and French The house is in a very rural hamlet and is not served by Public Transport. Limoges airport is 1hr 15mins away. The house is unsuitable for wheelchair users. During non-peak season, we offer a 4 night minimum stay, any day changeover. Changeover is Saturday or Sunday- 6 nights minimum during July and August, Christmas and school holidays although there may be some flexibility - please message.
