Cosy Farm Cottage in the Heart of Dorset
Cosy, boutique Victorian farm lodge full of character, with its own private garden and brilliant views over the downs. This former gamekeeper's lodge has been newly and lovingly renovated and redecorated throughout. Located on a working family farm in the heart of the Dorset countryside, but also just 30 minutes from the Jurassic coast. Family friendly or good for group of friends. There are two double bedrooms and one single bedroom, so space for up to max 5 people (including infants). North Lodge is great for staycations, and offers good wi-fi and a comfortable workspace for work-from-home needs. We always give the highest attention to cleanliness, as can be seen in our many reviews. We are committed to Airbnb's enhanced cleaning protocol and the cottage is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between stays. Self check-in and checkout, no close neighbours. Furnished with an eclectic mix of modern and period furniture, North Lodge has two bedrooms with comfortable king size beds, original stripped pine doors and detailing, and views for many miles over the country landscape. For comfort, Sealy posturepedic mattresses and DORMA anti-allergy duvets, and 100% cotton sheets freshly laundered and ironed. The master bedroom features a handsome upholstered headboard to the king sized bed. The second bedroom, with original fireplace and pine panelling, has a stylish iron bed frame. The study bedroom on the ground floor has a French style single day bed, so offers comfortable sleeping for one or the room can be used a study. At the centre of the house, the dining room with original timber floor, scrubbed pine table seating six and Osborne & Little curtains. The large, comfortable sitting room has two sofas, wood-burning stove and TV with DVD player, books, a selection of traditional board games and DVDs. The French doors open directly onto patio and garden. Brand new well-equipped kitchen with ceramic hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher; Travertine tiled floor. Separate utility room for coats and muddy boots, with washing machine, tumble drier and microwave oven, iron and ironing board. Includes beach towels, picnic rug, crockery and cutlery; tea towels and washing up liquid. Modern bathroom with power shower over bath; stylish square sink mounted on Italian marble surround; heated towel rail with fluffy towels provided. Large private garden with outdoor furniture and bbq, and well-stocked herb garden for the chef. Mature apple tree. Large lawn great for games. Wonderful walking on the farm and in many areas close by, both coast and countryside - along the river Stour at Blandford for example. Mountain biking on the farm and at other locations nearby. We supply a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, butter, artisan bread and homemade cake. Guests have access to the entire house and garden. Treat the cottage as you would treat your own. No smoking anywhere inside, and regret no pets due to allergies. No guests allowed other than those mentioned in the booking unless previously agreed. Please inform us of any breakages or spillages so we can clean/replace before the next guests arrive. The house is entirely private with its own garden, but we live not far away on the farm. We want you to enjoy the property as much as possible so please do not hesitate to contact us at any stage before or during your visit if have any questions or need assistance. We are about 1 mile from the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum, one of the largest remaining Georgian towns in England. Sits on the river Stour, where otters and kingfishers have recently made a welcome return. The town offers butcher and baker, M&S Food shop and Tesco, as well as great independent coffee shops and boutiques. There is also (amongst others) Prezzo and the Crown Hotel. Further afield there are excellent gastropubs and restaurants, real ale pubs and even a Gin House (in Wimborne). Hod and Hambledon hills and Bulbarrow, with outstanding views, are just a short drive away. The trailway offers walking through the countryside along the path of the old railway line (closed in the '60s); stop for lunch at The White Horse in Stourpaine, and/or walk all the way to Sturminster Newton. The cottage provides an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of England, from the Jurassic Coast to the Cerne Giant; Hardy's cottage and Shaftesbury's famous Goldhill; miles of unspoilt beaches, including Sandbanks and Studland; shopping in Bournemouth and Poole; fine National Trust properties such as Kingston Lacy and Stourhead; Dorchester and Poundbury; to name just a few. Great family days out at Longleat, Monkey World, Corfe Castle and Bovington Tank Museum which, in Summer, features live tank demonstrations. The house is on a farm without ready access to public transport so you will need a car. There is parking next to the cottage for two cars. Please note: this is a working farm with farm machinery; if walking on the farm please keep to marked paths and pay attention at all times - especially if you are out with children.
