Summary: The Bothy at Crosthwaite is a unique rural escape located in the peaceful Lyth valley. This hidden corner of the Lake District is famed for its damsons, unspoilt pastures and abundance of gastro pubs and Eateries. A compact but perfectly formed space, the Bothy provides an idyllic retreat for couples to relax whilst exploring the Lake District and is only a 15 minute drive to Windermere, England's Largest Lake and considered the heart of the Lake District National Park. Completely self contained the Bothy is a fantastic base for exploring the Lake District and surrounding regions and cosying up with some fantastic local takeaways during your stay. With a cosy Lounge (and wood burning stove!), downstairs shower room and mezzanine bedding area, the bothy is the perfect space to relax and unwind in one of the UK’s most stunning and undisturbed valleys. The Space: The Bothy is a 300 year old stone building and was originally the kitchen for the main house. It features a cosy, open-plan space with wood burning stove, antique furnishings and a chesterfield sofa – perfect for relaxing after a day on the Lakeland Fells. The charming shower room is on the ground floor with locally made, award winning natural toiletries. The mezzanine (in the apex of the roof – you may need to duck!) has an inviting double bed for you to rest your head in anticipation of another day exploring the local walks and fells from your doorstep. There are no cooking facilities – enjoy, you are here to unwind and relax! The award-winning Punchbowl Inn is a 3 min walk away and you are within walking/ cycling distance of 5 more award-winning gastro pubs in the valley. There are many wonderful cafes in the area, including the award-winning More? The Artisan Bakery, in Staveley. There is a fridge, tea/ coffee and glassware. Crockery and cutlery are provided for a simple breakfast, takeaway, or posh picnic supper – no need to wash up, just leave the used dishes in the tub outside and we will take care of them! The property benefits from one allocated parking space close by and guests are able to use the Bothy and the car parking throughout their stay. Secure cycle storage available on request. Outside seating area. Guest Access: Guests have full, exclusive use of this unique romantic retreat, access details will be sent two days prior to your arrival. The Neighborhood: Located in the picturesque village of Crosthwaite in the unspoilt Lyth Valley. A perfect location for a quiet and serene retrea whilst exploring the Lake District and is only a 15 minute drive to Windermere, England's Largest Lake and considered the heart of the Lake District National Park. Getting Around: Windermere & Oxenholme railway stations are within a short distance by taxi but one would recommend that your own vehicle would be best in order to explore the best of this rural location. Interaction with Guests: We do Live on site and are available should you need anything at all, but you will feel totally relaxed and not overlooked during your stay.
