Tarbert is a picturesque fishing village on the Kintyre peninsula, a scenic 2 hour drive from Glasgow. It offers an ideal base for exploring or for a relaxing break. The flat is situated by the bustling harbour within walking distance of local amenities: pubs, restaurants, shops. There are lovely walks around the village: steps lead to the ruins of Robert the Bruce’s 14th century castle. Tarbert is home to a working fishing fleet and is a popular destination for the yachting fraternity. The property is a self-contained mezzanine flat, with a double bed and bedroom area, shower/bathroom, fitted kitchen, spacious dining and comfortable living area. There is now WIFI in the flat and a 42'' television screen can be used for DVDs and games or connected to your computer for streaming. A DVD player and cables are at your disposal. There is double bed and if necessary a blow up double mattress and bedding could be used for children or easy-going friends! Parking is available in the quiet street in front of the flat. I can be reached by phone to help you prepare for your trip and throughout your stay. We will ensure that you are met and given a warm welcome to the village Tarbert has a good range of pubs, restaurants and hotel bars. At the weekends there is often live music at the Corner House pub. Whisky tasting is always available at the whisky shop! Nearby are the villages of *Skipness with its ruined castle, chapel and the Seafood Cabin *Carradale with its beautiful forest walks *Kilberry with its medieval standing stones *Tarbert's own 9 hole golf course *A ten minute ferry ride takes you to the Portavadie marina with its gym, pool, hot tubs and restaurant Tarbert can be reached by road via Loch Lomond and Inverary. There is a bus service from Glasgow 4 times a day. An interesting, alternative route is by road and ferry via Dunoon and Portavadie. The village is known as the gateway to the Kintyre Peninsula and within a relatively short distance there are four ferry terminals, with regular sailings to Arran, Jura, Gigha, Islay and Portavadie on the Cowal peninsula.
