Beyond the land is further unspoilt countryside with magnificent views. The property is totally private but not isolated being accessed via a 300 metre long farm track off of a leafy country lane yet only 5 minutes from the superb Mediaeval Bastide town of Monflanquin. Other beautiful bastide towns are nearby and all are worth visiting perhaps on a market day. An 8m x 4m swimming pool offers all day sunshine on the edge of open fields but within 30 paces from the terrace offering full safety and peace of mind for children. The Pigeonnaire itself is comfortable and has everything you need to have a lovely holiday with lots if added touches. Watch swallows skim the pool surface in the early morning and late evening. Deer can often be seen in the fields and if you're really lucky you might get sight of a wild boar. In the spring, hen harriers fly low over the fields just in front of the Pigeonnaire, nightingales abound and the golden oriole sings its heart out from nearby poplars. If you're extremely lucky you may even see a nightjar near the lake on our neighbour's farm opposite our track. Red squirrels, rabbits and hare are common and so too the skylark. Herons fish in the little pond just 100 metres from Pigeonnaire. In the summer, the chorus of frog calls has to be heard. Christmas and New Year - ideal for that peaceful getaway. Please note: Owners live on site (although the Pigeonnaire is completely private). With two really friendly dogs. That also enjoy having people to stay. Guests are free to roam around our twenty acres, to walk, birdwatch, play ball games (as long as the hay has been cut) or picnic. However beyond our land is endless space for walking and cycling. You may just want to sit and watch the sun go down from the terrace. It's often said by our guests that the view is their most favourite, anywhere in the world. The Pigeonnaire is just 3km from the beautiful bastide of Monflanquin and 5km from the equally beautiful bastide of Villereal. We are in bastide country. Other bastides within 30 minutes include Castillonnes, Beaumont, & Monpazier, just to name a few. Bergerac airport is 35 minutes away. There is car hire facilities if you are intending to fly in. The journey to the Pigeonnaire is gentle and un-rushed, driving through vineyards and plum orchards and the most picturesque countryside. The will need a car if visiting the Pigeonnaire (or at the very least a bicycle). There are boulangeries and a supermarket in Monflanquin, just a short 10 minute car journey. Larger supermarkets can be found in Villeneuve. A 25 minute car journey. If you don't like total peace and quiet then the Pigeonnaire is not for you. However, if you like peace and quiet and beautiful countryside then the Pigeonnaire is the place to stay.
