Chinaman Creek House Retreat, near Castlemaine
This is a quiet bush retreat, suitable for guests looking for a peaceful and relaxing space to unwind, rejuvenate and enjoy the native flora and fauna. The property has 50 acres of native trees and shrubs, with a rich variety of birdlife and native animals with opportunities for gentle bushwalking. There is a seasonal creek (not suitable for swimming), and some lovely spots for picnics. This house is perfect for artists, writers and creative people looking for a quiet place to work or relax. The house is a large split-level mudbrick off-grid sustainable home, with rain water tanks and a solar power system. Hot water is heated via the wood stove and solar hot water system. There are polished floorboards and tile floors throughout this light and airy home. There are four bedrooms, three of which have open fireplaces. A fourth fireplace warms the large lounge room. Guests are able to explore the 50 acre property. We live in another house on the property, situated approx. 350m from Chinaman Creek House. Guests may see us in the distance as we carry out any necessary maintenance. Brett welcomes all guests upon arrival, to explain the features of the sustainable house and how to use them. He is available in case of emergency, but otherwise will leave guests to enjoy the bush retreat experience. It is a beautiful property in a quiet rural valley, about 10 minutes drive on dirt roads from Castlemaine. This retreat is only accessible by car. There is a single car port available for guests near the house.
