Subic Rainforest Retreat is home to 7 Nests in Cubi, SBFZ, on the edge of the Ilanin Rainforest. Our #SayaNest is a pet friendly apartment good for 4. This is a 40sqm first floor unit 20 mins drive from Subic Bay CBD. 5 mins to Subic airport, waterfalls and beaches. Ideal for families and friends. This is a simple Nest where you can slow down, read a book, cook a meal for a loved one, and work from home. @thenestbythesea is a legitimate, tax paying business. SBMA Permit #1769 Subic Rainforest Retreat is an eco home with a living roof. This Nest is cooler than most indoor spaces as the roof cools the house even on hot days. There are nooks to lie back and relax - read a book, write a blog, or work from home. We're on the 1st floor of an old stilt house along the main road in Lower Cubi. There is one parking spot for Saya Nest in the front of the house. From the garage, the entrance is the solid white wood door on the left. Saya Nest is an approx 40 sqm apartment. Upon entering the unit, you will find yourself in the living room, which is separated from the kitchen by a bar. There is a sliding door which leads to the side yard. The side yard contains a bathtub, and outdoor dining area. The side yard has ample parking for several motorcycles. The bedroom is the door on the left, and is equipped with an air-conditioner. The Bathroom is small, but functional. The Kitchenette is spacious. There's a four burner stove for cooking, and a couple of pots and pans. There is a toaster, and a kettle and French press for your morning coffee. Subic Water is potable. Our soaps are all eco friendly. :) The refrigerator contains cold water, calamansi juice, butter, bread, and eggs for breakfast. Saya Nest is your private home for the duration of your stay. Unlike a hotel, we don't have any single use items for you to take home. We use large boxes and rolls of tissues etc to limit the amount of trash we generate, and we provide several items to make your stay more comfortable. Please refrain from taking home any extra food, tissues, toiletries or other items we provide. Those items are meant to be used in the Nest and should last for several batches of guests. The kitchen is stocked with tea, bread, eggs, peanut butter, bananas, porridge, milk, coffee, cooking oil, salt, pepper, and potable water. Help yourself to whatever you want, and leave the rest for other guests! The bread is kept in the freezer, so make sure you check in there. Saya Nest is equipped with fiber internet. Because we live in such a woody area, sometimes our internet connection is disconnected by monkeys or falling trees. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do until the service provider sends a repair crew. Let us know if something is not working, and we'll get it looked at as soon as possible. Feel free to read from our library, but please return the books where you found them before heading home. :) We live 20 minutes from our Saya Nest, but Jhing, our helper, lives in the house. If she is unable to help you, please feel free to call us for anything, and we'll get you sorted out. If we don't answer right away we're probably in the water, but we'll get back to you as soon as we can! Our village is home to mostly foreign residents. They are quite friendly and may approach you for a chat. Please be nice to them! We like to maintain a good relationship with our neighbours. Cubi is one of the residential hills in Subic Bay. It's overlooking the water and it's a nice place to walk around to watch the sun set on The Bay. There are a couple of convenience stores nearby where you can get simple meals and basic necessities. For other needs, there are a few groceries and markets in Subic Bay CBD (Central Business District), about 15 minutes drive from our Saya Nest. Cubi is also a great place to watch for birds, bats, monkeys and other wildlife. Bat Kingdom is just a 4-minute walk down the road from our Saya Nest. It's best to go just before sunset to watch the bats from the roadside. Bring a hat to protect your head from bat droppings! For the adventure seekers, there is a nearby waterfall that is about 20 mins hike from the apartment (go to JEST Camp for a guide to Boton falls, or book an AirBNB experience with us). You can explore Cubi on our bamboo bicycles for a rental fee of P500/bike/day. We have 2 bikes available. There are several beaches nearby. Our favourite cheap beach just a short drive (20 minutes) from the Saya Nest is Sweet Water beach. It's a great place to watch the sunset or go for a swim. Camayan (15 minutes drive) is a nice beach with a restaurant, and pet friendly! Acea Resort is just down the road (10 minutes walk or 1 min drive) and they have day packages which you can avail of. For scuba diving, Subic Bay has some nice wrecks. Let us know if you need help finding a dive shop and we'll point you in the right direction. Advanced divers only. We highly recommend a speedboat day trip to the nearby coves, or a Sunset Bay cruise. The dock is just 10 minutes from the house and it's the quickest way to go see the nearby coves. More info in our guide book on the AirBNB app :) For snorkelling and Island hopping, we recommend Zambales. Just an hour drive away, a good day trip is island hopping to Capones Island Lighthouse with a stop over at Camara Island for some snorkelling and lunch on the beach. The jump off point is Pundakit in San Antonio, Zambales. Let us know, and we'll connect you with our friends who have a boat there. Pundakit is also a great place to find surf from June-February. We are a 20 minute drive from Subic Bay CBD. Some attractions and beaches are difficult to access without a vehicle. We recommend you have your own car or motorcycle when staying with us! If you are commuting, there are WinStar jeeps that come around. They are the white transport jeeps which stop by the waiting shed just across the street from our house, or by the church and convenience store up the hill. Those run from 9-5, and can bring you to and from town. Taxis are available 24-7. Car, Van, Jeep, and Motorcycle rentals are also available for those who prefer to drive themselves. WORKSHOP We have a small workshop in the corner of the house, near the road. You may hear some work going on there in the weekdays. FACADE Our home is an old Navy stilt house. The entire house is split into 7 AirBNB units. The house may be old, but it was built by the US Navy to withstand air raids. It's extremely sound, and our unit is newly renovated. DOGS Subic Rainforest Retreat is home to rescued dogs. Barney is a young, feisty female, and she will bark when she sees you. She's not very well socialised, so we keep her on a leash when there are guests around. Please approach her with care, she sometimes snaps at people. ACTIVITIES We can help connect you with our friends who do surfing, sailing, yoga, forest survival, island hopping, or guided trail hikes. Check our Guide Book or message us for details. We have 2 mountain bikes available for rent. Please let us know in advance so we can bring them over to the unit. Rent is P250/day/bike.
