The hut at Gundenham

The hut caters for two, with a double bed and storage. A kitchenette area has a small fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle. Tea and coffee is provided for you. There are stools provided and a little table. There is a self-contained shower and toilet. Towels provided. You have a private Garden plus the orchard if you want to stretch out. Make sure you say hello to the dairy cows, the bees and ducks. The hut comes with shared parking in the gated drive and its own entrance to the rear of the hut. We are set in the little hamlet of Gundenham, located next to the local dairy farm, Gundenham Dairy and with only 5 other houses around us we are a quiet little family place. There are views of the Quantock Hills to the east and the Blackdown Hills and Wellington Monument to the South. In the spring and summer we are visited here by house martins and swallows and the bats come out in the evening, make sure you listen out for the owl, sheep and pigs too! You may also get to see the cows in the next field and can watch them go in for milking. We have provided you with your own patio in a small garden area, next to the old walnut tree. We are happy for you to have a wander in the orchard and meet the cows in the farmers field. We are a family who love to meet people and welcome you into our little bit of countryside. We will always be available to cater for your needs while you stay. Just knock at the house and we will help you out. Monty our springer spaniel lives here with us, he is super friendly and loves to make new friends. Teddy and Lilly our cats will be wandering about too. Teddy loves a cuddle!l 5 mins drive is the small market town centre, Wellington where there are plenty of independent shops. A butchers, green grocers and a Waitrose and Asda to stock up. Wellington also has a lake, park, nature reserve and leisure centre too. 7 miles south west is Taunton for all your shopping needs, Vivary Park, The Museum of Somerset, Hestercombe House and Gardens, the Bridgewater and Taunton canal, the Willow and Wetland centre, Sheppy’s Cider farm shop and much more. We are within easy reach of the M5. Other places local to us are a range of National Trust properties such a Killerton, Wellington Monument and Knightshayes to name a few. We are situated on the Somerset / Devon borders so Exeter is 30 minutes away, The Beautiful Devon coast line with the famous Jurassic Coast, stunning beaches and wonderful walks are 45 minutes away and if you fancy a day of hiking, then the Exmoor national park is about an hour’s drive. Nearer to the house is the white post cafe and nursery in Langford budville(you can walk the bridal path to there) and in tonedale is Braziers coffee shop. You will need a car to access our home. Public transport links are good from the town center. There are no public foot paths into town so a car or bike is recommended unless you are happy to walk the country roads. We, as a family regularly walk into town. We can recommend a couple of good taxi firms. There is a local pub and cafe in easy walking distance, so great for a night out without the car! There may be an odd occasion that we are unable to meet and greet you, however we will always let you know. We have a place we can leave the key and are happy for you to let yourselves in. We very much value your input and suggestions on ideas for the hut and have guest book for you to use. We have set up a new network for WiFi in the hut. We are happy for you to pitch a small tent in the field if you have children or an extra guest. Please ask and we will be happy to accommodate you.
