Located at the edge of the Barat National Park, with the sea and valleys gleaming in the distance, you really do feel like a bird in a nest as you gaze fondly at the majesty around you! The volcanoes of Java, Menjangan Island and sweeping views of nature are part of your repertoire. This meticulously designed minimalist villa has 2 bedrooms, with features like an antique Balinese door, a hammock in a private terrace on the top floor and a garden that flows into the lounge - all carefully conceptualized to make your stay even more delightful. There is a gazebo framed by frangipani trees as well as your own infinity pool in a spacious terrace, optimum for relaxation. There is a tropical rooftop garden where you can meet fellow birds in their own nests and truly transcend the boundaries between creatures of nature. Bedroom 1: one double bed Bedroom 2: one double bed Villa El Nido is located at the edge of Barat National Park with spectacular views over the valley and ocean. You can see Menjangan Island as well as the 5 volcanoes on Java 70 km away. El Nido is a minimalist design villa with 2 bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. The open living area and kitchen feel like part of the garden and the garden part of the interior. Relax in the gazebo or on the 2 sun beds under the frangipanis, set in a spacious terrace with a 6 x 3m infinity pool with sweeping views of the surounding nature. The villa has one large ground floor bedroom with a 2x2 meter bed, airconditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV and safety deposit box. Enter the large en-suite bathroom through an antique Balinese door. On the top floor you can find the second bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a a 2x2 meter bed, airconditioning, ceiling fan, mini bar and safety deposit box. This bedroom has a private terrace with hammock and access to the roofgarden. You can use the communal pool in the area of your villa. This pool is 22 meters in length, perfect for doing laps. This is the Lingga pool, with spectacular sunset views behind the Java volcanoes. We have two restaurants at the retreat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Suma and Senja restaurant. Suma restaurant offers fusion food and has a panoramic view overlooking the hills and the bay of Sumberkima. Senja Restaurant is our Indonesian restaurant with colorful sunset views behind the volcanoes of Java, overlooking the Barat National Park. You can also order room service from a special menu and enjoy your food in the privacy of your own villa. We have a yoga pavilion as well as a teacher on site. The Yoga pavilion has a perfect view of the shimmering blue Bali sea. We also offer traditional and healing massage and beauty treatments at our spa. We have a laundry service available. We have a dive instructor, who is also involved in our reef restoration project Metamorfosa and is an expert on the local underwater scene and can come to your villa to discuss your diving wishes. We have a free shuttle bus to bring you to Bangsal harbour and Pemuteran. Our kind staff is available for you throughout your stay to make sure you’re always comfortable. Our reception team can help you with any questions you may have, organise excursions that are tailor made to your wishes, book trips for snorkelling or diving, massage, yoga and more. We have a local divemaster to guide you on all diving levels or for your Padi certificate. He knows all the great diving and snorkeling spots and is our partner for the reef restoration project, Metamorfosa. There is household staff available for daily cleaning and security present at night. NORTH WEST BALI Sumberkima Hill lies in North West Bali – a sunshine soaked area that benefits from the breathtaking tropical flora and fauna that call this region home as well as the authentic, cultural elements that give it the blessed, wholesome feeling. From the oldest temples of Bali to some of the best diving and snorkelling spots in Indonesia, from a laid back beach culture to a reef restoration project, we have it all! This is the other side of Bali – a subtle yet powerful alchemy of tradition, nature and community. We are close to Menjangan Island, part of the Barat National Park. Visit the park for a nature walk or a bird watching tour, or come diving and snorkeling in paradise. Starting point for a private trip to Menjangan Island is from Bangsal harbor, a 5 minute drive down the hill. Bangsal harbour is also the starting point to visit our own local reef restoration project and has a white sand island that you can visit on a snorkelling expedition or for a beach barbecue. You can also rent a canoe to explore the mangroves and continue your trip to the white sand island. We have set up an NGO called Metamorfosa - this team has been restoring the reef with the help of local partners. We're creating a balanced ecosystem that can also generate income for the villagers to ensure long term success. We help to improve conditions for coral to grow well by farming crops that keep the water clean, like sea cucumbers, scallops and sea weed. By offering guided tours and sponsorship options, we can involve visitors in our mission and let them contribute to the project. We hope to be an example and learning environment for other areas with the same dreams and goals. Metamorfosa has started a coral nursery where pieces of baby coral can grow before we place them on the sculptures underwater. These sculptures with the baby coral attached to them form the beginning of a new, healthy reef. Artists are working on a series of sculptures within the theme of ‘change’ that together form an underwater art gallery. You are very welcome to visit this underwater art gallery and we hope you will get inspired by its message! Other things you can do: You can take our free shuttle to go snorkelling at our reef restoration in Bangsal harbour or at the Biorock structures in Pemuteran, or have a sunny beach day there. There are many interesting temples in the area. Our local guide would love to take you on a hike up the hill. You can start the hike from your villa and experience the sunrise from the hills of Sumberkima. Our team can also arrange trips a bit further away , like to the Aling Aling Waterfall with jumps and slides for the adventurous ones, the beautiful Sekumpul Waterfall, the Ijen Crater in Java, the Medewi surf area, rice paddies in Pupuan, and much more. The retreat is like a Balinese village, with a friendly team, mostly from Sumberkima. They will take you to their homes, experience a ceremony if there is one around. Within walking distance you can find an authentic village and beautiful nature walks. We have a free shuttle bus service that can bring you to the Bangsal harbour or to the beach area in Pemuteran approx. a 10 minute drive from Sumberkima hill, there you can also find other restaurants and shops. Check the schedule for the shuttle at the reception. We have a car and driver available for your excursions or to pick you up from the airport or another hotel. The rate from the airport is IDR 800,000 for a pick up in a luxury car for up to 4 people with luggage. Sumberkima Hill is close to Gilimanuk, the harbor where the ferry arrives from Java, and pick up from the harbor will be IDR 300,000 for a car suitable for 4 people and luggage. For local transport we also rent classic mountain bikes, motorbikes or a car. There is a parking space next to the house. Every villa has a mobile phone to make it easy to contact the reception, for instance to organise a trip, make a spa or massage appointment, book the free shuttle or to contact both restaurants. You can find a guest book in every villa which contains a comprehensive list of things to do in the area and also mentions our general manager’s number for emergencies.
