Welcome to Villa Tenang, overlooking the ricefields and jungle in Penestanan, one of the most sought after neighbourhoods in Ubud. A peaceful sanctuary, this beautiful new 3 bedroom villa is perfect for families, groups of friends and couples to relax, unwind and enjoy your private pool. It's easy to pop into town or explore the celebrated local Penestanan restaurants, arts and culture scene, take a yoga or pilates class, or a classic ricefield walk. Like most villas in Penestanan, Villa Tenang is not directly accessible by car. It is a short 10min stroll - about 850m - from the main road, Jalan Penestanan., or a couple of minutes by scooter. This is what helps make it such a peaceful location. While it is away from hectic central Ubud, the centre of town is still within very easy reach - from the main road it’s only 5-10 mins by car or scooter (depending on traffic) or a 20-25 min walk. ~The villa ~ 3 large fully enclosed, air-conditioned bedrooms, each with its own large ensuite, are set over two levels. Master bedroom 1 is on the ground level, overlooking the beautiful pool and tropical garden. Wake up to fabulous views over the ricefields and jungle from the two upstairs master bedrooms. Each room is very spacious, with a comfy queen sized bed, table and chairs, closet, and its own large ensuite bathroom. The large living, dining and kitchen area is open air, overlooking the pool and garden. There is a large and very comfy couch, perfect to stretch out on, and a large dining table. If cooking is your thing, you'll love the large kitchen, which has a full size fridge & freezer, gas stove, microwave, and all the necessities, including a blender, pots, pans and utensils. Our villa manager Wayan can organise a driver to take you to the Bintang supermarket 5 mins away, or on request can pick up groceries for you. A small fee for transport costs will apply Enjoy lounging in your private 7x3m pool at any time of the day. There is a also large couch on the second floor balcony where you can relax and there are also tables and chairs on the balcony outside each bedroom. On the top floor is an enclosed fan-cooled room with views over rice fields to Mt Agung. This is the perfect space for yoga and mediation. For longer stays, it makes a great writing room or home office. At additional cost, Wayan will be very happy to organise: - groceries - laundry - scooter hire - pick-up or drop-off to the airport or other accomodation - transport and tours ~ Getting to Villa Tenang ~ Like most villas in Penestanan, Villa Tenang is not directly accessible by car - one of the reasons it's so peaceful. The villa is accessed by a walkway, on foot or by scooter. On check-in, you will be met at the main road, and your bags will be delivered to the villa by scooter. You can choose to be driven down by scooter with your bags, or take the easy 10 minute stroll through the village, passing small ricefields on the way. The team will also arrange to take you and your bags back to the main road when you check-out. If you have your own scooter, parking is available at the front of the villa. Please note that some areas of the pathways, while relatively flat, can be a bit uneven in places, and can be a bit dark at night. We have worked with our neighbours to provide improved lighting in the area of Villa Tenang, but we provide small torches for your use at night should you feel you need them. You have full private use of the entire villa and pool during your stay. The villa is very private and not overlooked by neighbouring villas. Wayan, our charming villa manager, will greet you on arrival with a warm smile and a cold drink. Wayan will help you settle in, and answer any questions you have. Each morning Wayan will make you a delicious breakfast, and clean the villa and pool. At other times, the villa is yours to enjoy in full privacy. Wayan often spends time during the day tending our organic garden in the plot next to the villa, and is always happy to help with any questions or requests to make your stay especially memorable. Welcome to Penestanan, regarded by many as the best neighbourhood in Ubud. With a great mix of expats and visitors mingling with the friendly locals, it's a very safe area and conveniently located for easy access to the centre of town, but away from the endless cars, crowds and noise. There is a vibrant and growing local food, arts and culture scene, and highly regarded yoga spaces and spas. Within a five minute walk of the villa, there are good local restaurants and warungs, including Mesari, and a short walk further will reward you with new and established Ubud favourites, including (to name just a few): • Alchemy • Sari Organik • Element • La Pacha Mama • Zest • Wayan's Cocunut Juice (fresh young coconut juice & many other fresh juices) • Cantika spa • Eve Spa (now re-named Starchild 2) • Intuitive Flow yoga Many of the local restaurants will deliver to Villa Tenang. From the main road, the large Bintang supermarket is only 5 minutes away by scooter or car, and central Ubud is 5-10 mins (20-25 min walk). Unlike most of Ubud now, there are still plenty of ricefields in Penestanan, and they are the working heart of the community. You're free to wander, or there are fantastically scenic longer walks, including the Campuhan Ridge walk, nearby. Check out our guidebook for more information on local restaurants, spas, and yoga. The best way to get around Ubud is to walk, or get a car or scooter taxi, which are plentiful and cheap. You can also hire reliable scooters, but we don't recommend inexperienced riders brave the hectic central Ubud traffic. There is a taxi/transport hub at the main road where you can get a driver to take you anywhere you like. We suggest that you use our trusted drivers for pick-ups from the airport or other areas of Bali, as they are familiar with the villa & can coordinate with Wayan to ensure you're met promptly at the meeting point. If you use another driver, that's no problem, we'll provide details of the meeting point and Wayan will ensure you're met at your specified arrival time. Don't worry - the village is a real community and all the locals know us.
