B&B aan de Werf/ Historic Wharf apt
The B&B is on the waterfront in an historic building in the center of Utrecht. With all the bustling going on in the streets above, here you find peace and quietness. The spacious room allows you to eat, drink, work and relax in an arty atmosphere. The front of the room has a settee and a large dining table. In the middle there are 3 beds and at the back of the room you find facilities for making tea or coffee. There's a small refrigerator, television, cd-player, free Wifi. The bathroom is at the back. Total surface is 50m2. The canal is just 3 meters from the front door. The house was built in the 19th century as a warehouse, so don't expect a modern high tech 21th century apartment, but an old restored house with a lot of character. You enter the apartment through the front door and the hallway or use the swinging doors in the front room to access the quay. We live above, so feel free to ask any questions. To make you feel welcome, we will put some drinks and food in the fridge, which you can use, also for your breakfast. Or you can choose to visit the bakery in the street above. Actually, there are plenty of café's for breakfast, restaurants and grocery stores selling nice food. The apartment has a nice view on the medieval canal. The quay, only accessible by foot, is right in front of the house. The bustling streets above offer a bakeries, grocery stores, museums (Centraal Museum, Universiteitsmuseum, Catharijneconvent), the cinema (Louis Hartlooper Complex). All within 3 minutes walking distance. Walk to the centre along the Oudegracht and you'll find vintage stores, boutiques, historic buildings café's, bars, restaurants and all the modern shops. The B&B is a 5 minute walk from trainstation Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn or a 15 to 20 minutes walk from Utrecht Central Station. From CS you can also take the bus: line 2 and leave the bus at bus stop Tolsteegbrug. Parking is for free at a 15 minutes walk, east of Briljantlaan. Till 9:00 p.m you can park near Helling for 2,45 p/h; from 9:00 p.m. till 9:00 a.m. it's free of charge. From Parking Garage Vaartsche Rijn (2,63 p/u, dagkaart 21,03) is a 7 minute walk. At the Oosterkade or Westerkade you will pay more, although the do have evening fares. In the old city center you will pay more (more than 4 euro p/h). On Sundays you can park for free, except in the old historical city center (where you have to pay in the afternoon). I live in the southern part of the city center, so if you cross the bridge (Tolsteegbrug) the parking fares are lower. On the website of Utrecht you can find a handy map with all the parking information and details, including cheap P+R's . There is a cat walking around in the house. We hope you don't mind. We will keep the cat outside of the guest apartment on the ground floor, when we have guests.
