The red sandstone beach cliffs, long jetty and reef, make it one of the iconic diving destinations in the state. The off-shore Port Noarlunga Reef and aquatic reserve forms part of the Encounter Marine Park - a divers and snorkelers paradise and also viewable from the end of the jetty. The reef is home to more than 200 species of marine plants, which the fish love too and can be further discovered by the self guided Aquatic Trail for divers. The safe swimming beach is patrolled by the Port Noarlunga Surf Lifesaving Club over the warmer months and also forms part of the Mid Coast regional surfing reserve - Australia's first!
