Idyllic detached barn in tranquil NW Hants hamlet
A beautiful, recently converted 18th Century barn in the picturesque hamlet of Ibthorpe, once home to Jane Austen's brother. With a superb local pub in walking distance, and several more in neighbouring villages, it's the perfect base to discover Downton Abbey's Highclere Castle, Stonehenge, Winchester, as well as the market towns of Marlborough, Hungerford and Stockbridge, famous for its chalk stream fishing on the Test. Excellent train access from London. Will leave you to your own devices, but be on hand to answer any questions. Also very happy to answer any queries beforehand. Ibthorpe Farm House is part of a unique 18th century settlement built around inner, interconnected farmyards that has remained unchanged in its structure since the medieval times. Set on the edge of an area of outstanding natural beauty, on the edge of the North Wessex Downs, the chalk paths leading out of the hamlet offer stunning walks with fabulous views. A car is recommended as we’re in a small village. However we have a village shop and pub within walking distance.
