The Little Art House

The Little Art House is situated in the picturesque old part of Moretonhampstead on Dartmoor. This compact 15 square metre space has, within its own private entrance, a small, fully equipped kitchen/dining room, a little double bedroom and an en-suite shower room. We also offer free car parking, secure cycle parking and Wi-Fi. There are a few steps leading up to the property. The Little Art House is a small barn conversion (the bedroom and shower room) with a conservatory (kitchen/dining room). It is heavily insulated to be warm and cosy in the winter and cool in summer (with air conditioning). This small space will sleep a maximum of two people and is probably better suited to those who expect to be out and about rather than lounging around indoors. There's limited parking outside the house and we provide free parking in the town's two car parks (2 and 5 minutes walk away). The attractive kitchen includes a dishwasher, cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and an extending table with two chairs. The bedroom is also the relaxing area which includes the Smart TV with DVD player. The bed is in the corner of the room (as shown by the photo). There is a stand for two bikes with wheel widths up to two and a quarter inches. We provide a cover but you will need your own chain(s). There is wi-fi at the property. We have fibre broadband which is usually very good (32mps download speed) but occasionally the bandwidth narrows at very busy times - a peculiarity of living in an isolated area. We have a rigorous cleaning procedure in place and are committed to the AirBnb enhanced cleaning protocol. Access to the property is through a small alleyway to the right of number 20 Fore Street. There are a few steps leading up to the front door of The Little Art House. The alleyway has motor sensor lighting. The Little Art House, whilst being a totally separate, self-contained unit, is attached to the owner's property. Key handover is contact free using a key safe. Veronica and David will be available by phone if you need them, or just knock on the front door. Veronica is a textile artist and David works with NGOs in Europe and the developing world. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of Devon. Moretonhampstead, in the Dartmoor National Park, is a small town that feels like a village. From the Little Art House it takes two minutes to walk into the centre of the town and one minute to walk out into the countryside. The town has many local shops and small businesses and a Coop supermarket. The local pubs and restaurants provide a range of interesting, high-quality food and drink, all offering a take-away service. There is a vibrant artistic community and just up the road is Greenhill Arts with its interesting and thought-provoking programme of exhibitions. Veronica can usually arrange visits to many of the local artists and makers. The high moor is only ten minutes' drive away and offers unrivalled scenery, wildlife, walking and cycling. There are many visitor attractions and delightful hidden places. If you need to wash clothes after a particularly adventurous day on the Moor, the laundrette is a two-minute walk away. Moretonhampstead is 12 miles from the cathedral city of Exeter. You can get around by bus but these are infrequent so you need to plan your journeys carefully. If you decide to get around by car you need to be aware of the narrow lanes which are very much part of the Devon scenery. There are good walking and cycling routes as soon as you leave the house. The Information Centre, a few minutes' walk away, is run by volunteers who are knowledgeable about the area, attractions and events.
