You are welcome to use the kitchen, lounge, dining room. 20min drive Hamilton. 30 mins Waitomo Caves. 60 min Hobbiton. 90min Rotorua and Tauranga. Auckland 2hr. Pub for a meal 3 minutes walk. 2 cafes in village and small supermarket. Pirongia is a small village situated at the base of Pirongia Mountain on State Highway 39. An excellent route from Auckland to the central North Island mountains ( Pirongia is 120 minutes from Auckland International Airport) Conveniently located 20 minutes drive to downtown Hamilton City. 10 minutes drive to Te Awamutu town. 30 minutes drive to Waitomo caves and Mangatautari Mountain. 60 minutes drive to Hobbiton. Rotorua and Tauranga are 90 minutes drive. Close to the many walks and tramps on Pirongia Mountain. Raglan beach on the west coast is an hours drive away. Kawhia is a small settlement on the west coast 45 minutes drive. Te Puia hot springs are on ocean beach and can be found 2 hours either side of low tide. i will lend you a spade to dig your own hot pool! Plenty of off street parking Secure storage for mountain bikes for those exploring the area and the many mountain biking tracks. Bath robes are provided, as are cosy electric blankets for cold nights. A continental breakfast is provided, consisting of juice, choice of cereals, fruit preserves, yoghurt, toast and home made jams and jellies, and tea and coffee Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the room, and you are welcome to use the kitchen to cook. There is space in the fridgeand freezer for your supplies. You are also welcome to use the lounge/dining area, and relax on the deck, or take a stroll around the garden. You will be given a key, so that you can come and go as you wish during your stay. You are welcome to use the laundry - I know how hard a simple thing like doing the washing can become when you are travelling! Please note, I have a cat - Ayesha who enjoys interaction with guests. If you do not want her company - please let me know. I have a guest folder with a variety of booklets, brochures etc on the different activities and places of interest in the area, and am happy to help find out additional information if required. I have also put a world map on the wall of the room - it would be great to have you leave a pin to indicate where you are from! Our small village is both picturesque and historic. The local information centre has some wonderful displays of early life in Pirongia and there are two existing redoubts (fortifications) to explore. The numbering system for the houses is a little different, in that they run erratically, not in the normal odds and evens - it can be a bit confusing unless you know! My street numbering goes from fifty to seventy two (me) to ninety next door! There is no public transport from the village into Te Awamutu or Hamilton. The inter-city bus link departs from Te Awamutu and if possible, I will be happy to pick you up or drop you to the bus departure point . Plenty of room for parking caravans and boats. The Annual Priongia Craft day is held on the last Sunday in September. The craft day started in 1978 and now has over 200 stall holders exhibiting a wide selection of top quality handmade arts and crafts. It is a must for visitors to the area (and just around the corner! For those guests wanting to dine at the local pub, please be aware that like most restaurants in New Zealand, the kitchen closes at 8.30.
