Bijou by the Bridges, Stunning Seaside Apartment
Stunning harbourside apartment in the beautiful historic borough of South Queensferry just outside Edinburgh and overlooking the world famous Forth Bridges. Main door flat on the quayside of the old harbour in the town centre. Newly restored and furnished to a very high standard, suitable for families and couples. Ideal base for visits to Edinburgh, Linlithgow, the East Neuk of Fife and St Andrews and easy access to Perthshire, the Trossachs and the Road to the Highlands. The apartment is on the ground floor of a traditional tenement overlooking the harbour with stunning views towards the famous bridges and over the Firth of Forth towards Fife. It has a private entrance, a double bedroom with plenty wardrobe space, a bright lounge with dining area and large window looking towards the Rail Bridge, a well equipped, modern kitchen with fridge, washer dryer, microwave, oven and hob. Luxury bathroom with shower over bath, shaver point, hairdryer and toiletries. There is a single bedroom with adult bunk-beds. Full central heating, flat screen smart TVs. Very well equipped and newly furnished to a very high standard. Quality bed linen and towels are supplied. Constant hot water. Wifi Free public parking outside the apartment and in a large public car park approx 50m to the west on the sea front. There is a small garden just outside the apartment, there is also a sandy beach just to the west of the harbour and a larger pebble beach opposite the apartment. Around the harbour there are benches, and in small area of parkland known as the Binks, next to the harbour, there are benches and picnic tables. We will always try to meet guests on their arrival to show them the apartment, tell them a bit about South Queensferry, Edinburgh and the surrounding area and hopefully help with any information. For very late check-ins there is also a key-box and a full set of instruction/welcome information in the apartment. The apartment is part of a lovely late 19th century stone tenement building right on the historic harbour. South Queensferry is very historic and beautiful Royal Borough sitting on the shore of the Firth of Forth, ten miles northwest of Edinburgh. As the name suggests in medieval times it was the site of the ferry across the Forth to Fife and was established by Queen (later Saint) Margaret in the eleventh century. The town and the famous Forth Rail Bridge dating from 1890 are world heritage sites. The town has an abundance of lovely restaurants, cafes,bars and shops, and there is a supermarket within a 100m. The town is an ideal base for visiting Edinburgh, Fife and its Est Neuk with its lovely fishing villages and the historic St Andrews. Close by is Linlithgow Palace, the birth place of Mary Queen of Scots, also the ancient Blackness Castle, where Hamlet was filmed. The Stately Homes of Hopetoun House, Dalmeny and Dundas Castle can be visited. There are numerous golf courses in the area, water sports at Port Edgar and the national climbing centre at Ratho. Boat trips can be taken out to the Forth Bridges and the Island in the Forth and lovely walks in the area. South Queensferry is approximately 6 miles from Edinburgh Airport and there are direct bus links to the High Street in the centre of the town. From South Queensferry, the centre of Edinburgh can be reached by car, approximately 20 mins; pubic buses run from South Queensferry High Street to Edinburgh centre and cost £1 to £4. A taxi will cost approx £25 to £30. Dalmeny Station is located about a mile from South Queensferry centre, trains run into Edinburgh centre and also north over the Rail Bridge to Fife and the Highlands.
