Cottage Juraj - traditional cottage

Accommodation in the refurbished traditional wooden situated in the Nature Park Medvednica in a small hamlet of Hizakovec (municipality Donja Stubica) at Horjan houshold. Lovely countryside and vicinity of Zagreb are a great advantage! Cottage Juraj is a one-room wooden architecture with a bathroom (shower) and with a twin bed (can be arranged differently). Tiny space offers a cozy atmosphere and the guests can enjoy sitting outside under the vine. There is a barn near-by with the cooking space, sink and a refrigerator - this is a shared place since there are two other cottages in the yard. Using the fireplace has to be arranged with the host. Guests have access to their cottage and can use cooking facilities in the barn at time previously arranged with the host. They can rest in the garden and they have their free parking place. The hosts live in the cottage in the yard and can help guests in organizing visits to attractions, purchase of home-made products. Guests can use the barn if previously arranged and fireplace can be also used for making barbecue. Hosts can help in preparing wood and coal - amount to be agreed before usage. Hosts are a married couple - an artist and a museum curator - therefore well-acquainted with local history and sights. Can inform guests on different events as well. Village Hizakovec is a great hiking place - guests can visit Matija Gubec house and Gubec-Lime tree nursery while the 450 year old legendary Lime is 20 minutes walk. In the near.by village you can visit ethno museum and in there are two Baroque manors close by (Museum of Peasant Uprisings and Stubicki Golubovec with Kajkaviana Collection). In the museum events and concerts are organized. Only 5-minute drive can take you to the spa centre Jezercica with thermal water in several indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Region is famous for good food so there are many fine restaurants in the surroundings. It is a wine-growing region. We advice rent-a-car. There is a public transport (bus / train) in the near-by place (Donja and Gornja Stubica but at least 20 minutes walking and with scarce schedule. Zagreb International Airport is an hour drive. Please note that the listed prices are in heating season (1 Oct - 30 April). Minimum stay is 2 nights. In the New Year period prices differ and the hosts are renting the whole capacity (8 people in three cottages) to a group of guests with a party place in the barn.
