The villa has been designed with 'keeping cool' in mind in this hot climate. The high ceilings and many french doors from all rooms ensure a constant cooling air flow throughout the villa. The villa is approved by the SLTDA. The villa is tastefully decorated with a mix of Sri Lankan antiques and modern furniture. All bedrooms are en-suite with hot water showers, have comfortable beds with mosquito nets and good quality bed linen. There are 2 bedrooms with double beds and one bedroom with two single beds. Being one of the most biodiverse countries in the world the garden contains amazing palm, mango, papaya, araliya, avacado trees and boasts many different types of heliconias. The garden is frequently visited by interesting wildlife such as monkeys, different types of lizards, squirrels and many species of birds such as parakeets, paradise flycatchers, humming birds, kingfishers and the odd peacock. The villa is approximately 10 minutes walk from the beautiful beach of Unawatuna which is safe for swimming or a 5 minute tuk tuk ride away from the quiet beaches of Dalawella and Talpe. Check with the locals to see where it is safe to swim at these beaches. A significant place of interest nearby includes the UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle which is 4km away from Shalini Villa. If you wish to go further afield (45 mins drive via new highway) and are a garden lover you may enjoy visiting Geoffrey Bawa's garden - 'Brief Garden'.
