Hello & welcome to Angaston (Crown of the Barossa) & home to one of South Australia's most prized architectural listing. The 147yo lodge is located within walking distance to everything Angaston. Local cafes, restaurants, award winning produce, wineries, bikeways/walkways, historical points of interest & surrounded by beautiful scenery. Affordable luxury. Architectural brilliance at its best. The overwhelmingly large space with impossibly high ceilings offer overwhelming spaciousness while the half metre thick stone walls are a great natural insulator. Nature sometimes needs a little help. The air-conditioning will keep you cool in summer while the oversized combustion heater & individual space heaters will keep you warm in winter. Natural light streams through the well appointed windows and offers glimpses of the historic walk and surrounding trees outside. Naturally beautiful & well appointed collectable furniture complements all the modern amenities, including a full size pool table, large wall mounted smart tv, karaoke style DVD player and chess table set. The marble hearth is set at just the perfect height to sit by the fire with your wine while contemplating how fluffy are those sheep skin mats? Your bedrooms are separated by the oversized grande entrance hallway preceding through the generous sized double doors and onto the formal dining space. Complete with antique dining table, Chesterfield lounge to sit and read the newspaper or listen to someone tinkling on the ivory of the ornate 100yo piano. A separate smart tv is available for the teens or vice versa, parental zone. The kitchenette is complete with full sized oven, microwave/convection oven, fridge, coffee machine, kettle and dishwasher. Fresh flowers from our local florist adorn and complement the spaces. The separate bathroom is complete with spa and is just ideal for a long aromatic soak. The fresh flowers and scented candles are perfectly paired to ignite the romantic senses. Bubbles, soft fluffy bathrobes and wine. Hmm just perfect. You will be in awe of this State Heritage listed space. You will have exclusive acces to level 1 (7 steps from street level) with approximately 180 square metres and 5 1/2 metre height ceilings devoted entirely for your comfort. The property has been listed by the State of South Australia for its grand design and unique prominence above the Murray Street, Angaston. Travellers and locals alike, often seek a photo opportunity on the steps with the bluestone and slate building in the backdrop, while the 145 year old State Heritage listed Moreton by fig trees create a frame for the building in the foreground. You will have exclusive access to two diverse areas, the formal dine with 145yo piano, Chesterfield daytime reading area and smaller smart television. This area adjoins the separate kitchen and leads onto the entertainment room. We encourage book exchanges. The kitchenette is complete with all modern basic amenities, dishwasher, bar fridge, full size electric stove, convection microwave cooker, kettle, toaster and we have introduced a coffee machine. Additional pods are available for purchase. We provide a hearty full country style breakfast sufficient in quantity for your second self catered style breakfast. All items are sourced from local suppliers and include eggs, award winning double smoked bacon, tomatoes, haloumi cheese, mushrooms and either baby spinach, seasonal avocado or asparagus. Add spaghetti or baked beans, an English muffin or thick sliced toast with Pops homemade tomato sauce, season with salt & pepper. Presto, perfect for your social brunch or a late romantic breakfast for two. A lighter breakfast is also supplied and includes a choice of Australian cereal, fresh fruits, plain yoghurt and locally sourced fresh creamy milk. Locally grown fruit is the base ingredient for home-made jams, local honey or for something uniquely Australian, why not try every Aussie child's favourite, vegemite. Orange juice and an assortment of teas and coffee compliment your "long" breakfast. Your complimentary breakfast provisions are sufficient for second days breakfast. During our cooler months we'll provide hot chocolate, marshmallows and dunking biscuits. The raised marble hearth offers additional seating directly next to the fire. No one will know if you choose to slip onto the floor and stretch out along the thick oversized sheepskin mats. Be impossibly captivated by the dancing flames. Recommendation, simply add wine. Every booking receives a bottle of complimentary world famous Barossa wine to be enjoyed with your cheese tasting platter and complimentary locally produced treats, certainly a tasting experience. A bottle of filtered water is already chilling in the fridge. Your experience is of paramount importance. Please let us know how much interaction you would prefer. Some guests and honeymooners prefer to self check in, we can provide you with the access code. Other guests prefer to interact more with a local Barossian. We will be only to delighted to assist you with your local holiday must do's around our beautiful town of Angaston and extend into the Barossa Valley region. Put simply, friendly country hospitality. Our community is safe, walking the streets isn't a worry, please consider, not all roads are well lit. we can provide you with a torch or download a torch to your mobile phone. Will are situated approximately 80 minutes by car from the city of Adelaide. Regional public transport services are available. Linksa runs twice daily services from the city direct to the Barossa. Train services are available from the city and end Gawler. Linksa regional bus services connect with specified runs. Taxi services are also available. ScootnToot provide scooter hire. If you can ride a push bike and your have a valid car licence, you are eligible to hire a scooter for your self guided tour or for some fun, add a guru. That's definitely, an experience. There are ample push bike and walking/jogging trails. And of course we can provide you with one of our local tour operators. We live on site, please let us know if this will impact on your stay. With the 990 millimetre tapered stone walls, noise and temperature is well regulated. Blue tooth your favourite music to the karaoke style CD player and "crank out some tunes". Or maybe you prefer to settle back into the textured chesterfield lounges and download a movie to enjoy with wine and cheese, or weather permitting, we will set you up outside under the winter creek lined tree canopy. Sufficient wood for the combustion heater will be provided during your stay, please let us know if you need assistance to fill the fire. We'll provide you with some education if you have never filled a fire before. General maintence to clear ash from the fire will be required during longer stays. Please nominate a suitable time of day for this routine procedure to occur, together with restocking of the wood supply for your use. Please enquire about our laundry facilities and additionally for longer stays, linen changes and house cleaning, please discuss when this will be suitable for our staff to enter the premises. Additional fees may apply. Please enquire about packaged items. Through our partners we are able to organise a dozen roses, massages, full salon hair and nail care & spray tans. We will help make a reservation to dine at our local restaurants and pubs or for that extra special event, have a chef come and prepare your evening meal onsite from local seasonal world class produce. During winter months, we can provide a slow cooked meal with crusty bread sticks. Please let us know if you are interested and specifically whether you have any food allergies. If you are thinking of food wine and touring, why not let someone else do the driving. We'll link you with our partners chauffeur driven wine tour. Perhaps you'll prefer to capture your very own unique experience, then one jump onto one of our scooters, we'll equip you with your go-pro mounted helmet to start exploring the Barossa your very own unique way. When you return, We'll load your very own unique experience onto a usb stick for you to edit later. Please pre-book the scooters for hire. Separate hire fees, terms and conditions will apply. We can even organise a water ski lesson. There is however a bit of a drive, so please make sure you allow yourself an extra days stay. An accommodation insurance bond equivalent in value to 1 nights stay will apply. Please allow this amount to be charged to your Visa or MasterCard. if you don't have one of the cards, we will ask that you provide a cash bond.
