Mendip House_ Somerset, home with a view.
Nestled into the Mendip Hills and sitting above the Town of Axbridge, Mendip house has beautiful views overlooking the Cheddar Valley and Somerset levels. It sleeps 9 comfortably but there is room for another 3 people if need be. There is also space to camp in the garden weather permitting. The ground floor is open plan, with 2 sets of French doors opening to the patio where you will find a sofa, fire pit and dinning table, this lends itself to family gatherings or friends getting together. Set on an acre of land and built in to the hillside, the 3 storey house has a garden that wraps itself around it, on every floor there is a door to the garden. I have space for 4 to 5 cars, this is the best way to get around the area as public transport is a little sparse! I will meet you when you arrive to run through things and to make sure you are all ok. Axbridge is a medieval village hosting a square at its centre, around which are several eateries and pubs. It is on the edge of the Mendips and has some lovely hills walks as well was easy access to the Somerset levels. Tourists attractions near by include Cheddar Gorge, West Hay nature reserve, the small city of Wells with its beautiful Cathedral and Glastonbury Tor. Axbridge also has a Farmers market on the first Saturday of the month from 8am till 1pm, which has much delicious produce! By Car: From Bristol take the A38 towards the Airport, keep driving past the Airport and carry on for about 20 mins through the Churchill lights, Sidcot and passed Winscombe. When you get to a garage on your right on the corner of Shute Shelf, you carry on the A38 but look out for the left-hand fork to Wells, A371, and take that. Keep going past the turning for Axbridge on your left taking the next possible left after that which almost turns back on itself, you will see a sign for Fennel Lane. Go up that then up the steep hill to the right, as you reach the top of the hill you will see a drive forking to the left directly in front of you, that’s the house. By Train: The nearest station is Weston-Super-Mare which is about 10 miles away. You can either get a cab, approx. £18, or the 126 Bus, here is a link to the times; (Website hidden by Airbnb) Children are very welcome but please note that younger children need supervision all the time as the garden is quite wild in places with plenty to slip on and fall off of, and is a little dangerous for them.
