Modern Farmhouse near hiking, bike path & skiing

A short walk from the entrance of Taconic State park, our home is set on a tree lined acre in the hamlet of Copake Falls NY. We are 15 min from the Catamount Ski Hills and 28 minutes from Ski Butternut in Great Barrington. Walking distance to great hikes, Bash Bish falls and Taghkanic Lake which has a great beach and swimming. We are surrounded by rolling hills, small family farms ( including incredible dairy and flower farms) and charming towns such as Hillsdale, Hudson and Millerton. - we plan on renovating and making upgrades this spring of 2021 so the place should be even lovelier for our upcoming guests. We have a small bluetooth speaker so you can stream music from your phone or internet. Select Bluetooth and iluv mini to use. It is in the kitchen by the dishes, feel free to use anywhere in the house, it has a rechargeable battery. You have the whole house to yourselves. Loads of lovely walks and great hikes within walking distance from the house. just turn right upon exiting the driveway and you will hit Taconic state park (URL HIDDEN) in under 5 minutes. From there you can walk or ride on the gorgeous 15 mile (URL HIDDEN) rail trail, or explore the park. We also just learned about lake Taghkanic which a guest of ours highly recommend. Flyers and maps should be on the kitchen table when you arrive. if they're not you can stop by the visitor center at the entrance to the park. There is usually someone there who can offer direction on trails etc. Our kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need to cook and bake. RESTAURANTS AND CAFE'S IN THE AREA COPAKE FALLS The Taconic Wayside Inn is less then a 5 minute walk away and has great bar food and atmosphere if you don't feel like cooking. It's usually a packed house on Saturday nights and might make for a fun night out without having to drive. 108 State Route 344, Copake Falls, NY The Depot Deli - Also less then a 5 minute stroll away has all the basics and a shockingly wide selection of fancy beers. Address: 52 Main St, Millerton, NY 12546 Irving Farm Coffee House A Welcoming hub serving coffee, artisanal teas & light fare including soups, sandwiches & pastries. Germantown - 40 minutes away Gaskins - 2 Church Ave, Germantown, New York (URL HIDDEN) this place is really the drive. Sublime food in an adorable little town. Hudson - too many places to mention here. 30 minutes away and absolutely work a visit during the day or in the evening. Also see Random Harvest & Copake General store in the grocery section. Both have great lunch food. GROCERIES * Churchtown Farm 357 County Route 12, Hudson, NY, 12534 This is an biodynamic, organic dairy that sells their incredible cheeses, raw milk and meats out of their farm shop. They also give wonderful tours of the farm most Sundays and hold book club events, and many others. it's worth visiting their site to see what they have coming up. * Random Harvest only an 11 minute drive from our home and excellent ( it's on the way to Churchtown Farm 1785 NY-23, Craryville, NY 12521 Lots of organic produce and ready made food. as well as a great natural beauty supply section. it's a touch more expensive then trader joes or Whole Foods but the food is of the highest quality and mostly local. *** Copake General store is only a 4 minute drive from our home and like Random Harvest has an adjoining cafe with great soups and sandwiches. Their produce selection is much smaller though but great if you want to stop in for just a few nice snacks *** Copake Wine works is our best local wine & spirits shop If you'd like to get standard fare groceries the IGA in Hillsdale is the closest supermarket 2628 NY-23, Hillsdale, NY 12529 BIG Y - is 20 minutes away in Great Barrington and has a wider selection if you are looking for fancy cheeses etc. 700 S Main St Great Barrington, MA 01230 GENERAL STORE (URL HIDDEN) - Great selection of everything from board games and children's toys to kitchen ware, towels and other home goods. a GREAT place to buy last minute birthday/ anniversary gifts and cards. Something lovely for everyone here. and only about 10-15 minutes from our home. LOCAL FLOWERS Tiny Hearts Farm This is a flower farm that has a shop where they sell their gorgeous flowers at a very affordable price. 2643 State Route 23 The nearest train stop is 30 minutes away in Wassaic - from there you'd have to take a cab up to the house. The Taconic Wayside Inn & The Depot Deli are both within walking distance if your looking for a snack and don't want to drive. We have a nest just to the right of the dining room in the hallway. Feel free to adjust to your a temperature that feels comfortable to you. If you are going out for a long stretch we'd appreciate it if you could turn the heat down to 60 as it doesn't take very long to heat back up once you get home. Also we know it maybe tempting but please do not move our furniture around. We have a lot of fine pieces and several have been damaged by guests doing photo shoots etc. Don't stand on dining room or living room chairs as several have been broken. We appreciate you caring for our place as if it were your own.
