There are a couple arts and craft galleries in town and different festivals and events occur throughout the year such as Heritage Days and Elk Festival in Spring, the Bluegrass Festival in summer. As you wander around this little country town you will most likely encounter many interesting locals whose families go back many generations, as well as many "transplants" who have decided to make Newton County their home. Newton County Arkansas is a dry county. This means there are no places to purchase alcohol. We suggest you bring beer, wine, spirits with you. The closest liquor store is about 15 miles north of Jasper. There is a well stocked grocery store in Jasper, a Dollar general and a couple take out places and couple of good restaurants.
