Have you ever heard the dawn chorus as it was meant to be heard? It is an orchestra of bird calls. A family group of Kookaburras singing a chorus that they improvise as they sing, celebrating the joy of life together. Red Tailed Black Cockatoos flying in pairs overhead. The elusive Whip Bird and it's mate call to each other as they flit from twig to twig. Delicate tiny finches chirping to each other as they bounce among the tall grass stems. Other unidentified birds all singing and chirping right outside your tent and through the valley. Stop... listen and bask in the glorious singing of the birds. At first you may think you must be dreaming. You've never heard anything like it. A truly soul uplifting symphony. If you're lucky, you may enjoy the privilege of witnessing our resident wedge-tailed eagles gliding the thermals, when they so choose, above the valley and mountains in a light blue cloudless sky. Walk up Point Glorious - take time out to gaze into the breathtaking beauty of the Noosa Hinterland valley, surrounded by rolling hills and mountains. Create your own dreams and memories to last a lifetime. A wise person once said: “A treasure chest of authentically joyful experiences will feed you for life.” Local History As you drive towards Point Glorious along the private secluded earthy roadway that is Anderson road, cast your mind back in history. The first road through the district, similar to this country lane, was created immediately after gold was discovered at Gympie in 1867. Noosa Hinterland has a rich history of logging and dairy farming. In the early 1850's the steep hills rising out of the valley of the North Maroochy River and the slopes of Mt Eerwah contained a wealth of timber. The surrounding country consisted of dense vine scrubs full of Cedar, Beech, and Pine and long ridges covered with Blackbutt and Tallowwood. By 1922 there were two timber mills in Eumundi alone. As the timber was felled and the land cleared, paspaluma and other grasses were planted and dairy farms established. By 1900, shops started to appear: general stores, a bakery, saddlery, blacksmiths, butcher shops, auctioneers and agents. Eumundi, with a railway and road to the north passing through it, developed as an important centre of the timber and dairy industries. The building of two butter factories in the 1920's, one at Eumundi and the other at Cooroy indicates the significance of the dairy industry in this region. The huge fig trees in the main street of Eumundi were planted for soldiers who fell in the first World War and are considered a living war memorial. These glorious trees have been heritage listed. The Original Eumundi Markets started in 1979 with three stalls. Today there are over 600 stalls with over 1.6 million visitors per year. We are a Rural farm property 10 minutes drive from Eumundi. Ideally, you would have your own vehicle, particularly if you want to visit the quaint hinterland country towns. If a guest does not have transport - we can arrange transfer to Eumundi where there are many taxi/shuttle bus alternatives or can arrange airport transfers. Let us know what you might require. Point Glorious farmstead is a 22 Acre property in the Noosa Hinterland with a variety of fruit and nut trees. Avocado, Mangos, Lychees, Pecan nuts, Oranges, Mandarines, Paw Paws and Bananas. Guests are welcome to pick and enjoy the fresh fruit when in season. The property shares its boundries with Mapleton National Park, a famous old Avocado farm and Beef cattle grazing fields. There are bush walking tracks on the property ranging from easy, to difficult - including a challenging climb that boasts magnificent views of the valley and mountain ranges. (Available as a guided walk only) Some of the more challenging tracks are seasonal and may not not be accessible during wet weather. Contact us if a climb is on your agenda and we will check the accessibility of the tracks. Pet Dogs are welcome! We ask guests to make sure they are under owner control at all times and to please keep them out of the Tent. Please contact us and let us know if you plan to bring your pet so we can make the appropriate arrangements.
