Open plan timber cottage with sweeping views across dairy pasture to Maria Island, Marion Bay Beach and Forester Peninsula. We have easy access to Port Arthur and Tasman Peninsula to the south, and Orford and the East Coast to the north. An easy 40 minute drive from Hobart and convenient 20 drive from Hobart Airport. (Final half k is well-maintained gravel road.) Our house features clean lines, polished timber floors, white walls decorated with Tasmanian art. The house is small, however the cathedral ceiling and mezzanine create a spacious feeling, while the wood fire easily heats the living area. The house has a generous covered verandah ideal for morning coffee and outdoor lunch. We have a rain water tank supplying clean drinking water. Our small block includes deciduous specimens, native flora, orchard and vegetable garden. Our garden is a haven for birdlife - from the tiny magnificent blue wren to the noisy wattle bird. The fields and dams are home to native hens and marsh harriers and are visited by wedge-tail and sea eagles, herons and swans. The garden is visited by the odd wombat, bandicoot, poteroo and little forest bat. We love our weekender and stay at every opportunity, rain, hail or shine. The house is simple but very comfortable. The area is safe, fantastic for long walks and bike rides on country roads or along the spectacular Marion Bay Beach. We are 15 minutes drive from the township of Dunalley along a picturesque seaside road, for petrol, groceries, pub and cafés (the Dunalley Fish Market is renown for its fresh seafood and chips). The entire house is available for your use. It features a fully equipped kitchen, new refrigerator, food preparation equipment (microwave), gas stove (with instructions). Moka pot (stove top) for espresso coffee, tea pot, saucepans, cooking equipment, cutlery, cups and glasses. We have an tuned upright piano to be enjoyed by musicians. I will meet you there and run you through anything you may need to know about the house or the area. We are situated in a small coastal hamlet, surrounded by a beautiful dairy farm. Our neighbours include Gillespie's Ginger Beer factory, artists and makers and the award winning Bream Creek Vineyard and Cape Bernier Vineyard. We enjoy the dairy farm's beautiful herd of friesian cows and the coast views and views toward The Ragged Tier and Maria Island. Our property is only suitable for access via motor vehicle. The area is perfect for bicycling. Not suitable for the mobility impaired. The step up onto the verandah may be challenging, while the bedroom mezzanine is accessed by staircase. The bath/shower does not have a safety railing. If you intend to use the 2nd bedroom for sleeping, a fee ($50 per night), will be charged to cover making the bed and washing linen. Drive way gives direct access to the house.
