Excellent location for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids) a nice rural farm experience! 900 hundred square foot one bedroom, full kitchen, full bathroom private suite. Rustic traditional decor with television, internet and private entry. Come and go as you please (quiet after 11:00 p.m.). Hot tub available year round, and a seasonal 18 foot above ground unheated pool. Sheets, towels and basic breakfast provided for the first day or two. Although this is a pet friendly accommodation, there are specific rules and guidelines to follow. 1. It is by pre-approval, on a case by case basis. 2. Pets are not permitted on furniture, on or in the bed, or in the bedroom. 3. Pets cannot be left to roam freely about the suite when guests are absent. We have an indoor and outdoor kennel for use if required. 4. Living in a farming neighbourhood, pets must be leashed and supervised at all times. The suite is located on the lower floor of our home. Being underneath our living space, you will hear noises of day to day living, walking, toilets flushing, talking, occasionally the television, as we will also hear guests at times. If you are sensitive to noise, or are a light sleeper, this may be less than ideal for you. However, as our reviews show, the majority of our guests have loved the space and and have not found the noise excessive. There are two locked doors between the suite and the upper floor. Guests will not have access to the upstairs, and will have all the amenities necessary in the suite. Occasionally, access to the suite is required, however, ample notice will be provided. Advance notice for use of the hot tub (located on the back deck adjoining hosts living space) is requested. If you are interested in visiting the animals, ensure the gates are closed. A fire pit and dry firewood is available if you have an interest in an outdoor fire. We will be happy to assist. Please lock the door when you are not home and keep the key with you. I work full-time and Dave is retired. Dave is often found working on projects on the property, babysitting his granddaughters, or enjoying fishing out in his boat. I am typically home from work by 5:00 p.m. every evening in the winter. During the summer months we are busy with outdoor activities and may or may not be home during your stay. Call or text first, and feel free to knock on the door if assistance is needed. If you have checked in on your own we will pop down to introduce ourselves, and feel free to do the same. Hobby farms and acreages populate the area, marked with seasonal creeks, mountain views and natural hiking trails. Deer, bears and cougars inhabit the bordering forest land (and don't worry, they run when they hear you). The Cowichan Valley is well known for it's cottage industry, producing diverse local produce, crafts, farm markets and award winning wineries. The Russell Farm Market is located 10 minutes away, along with one of our favourite wineries, Averill Creek. Some of our favourites ocean explorations are only a 15 minute drive away. Osbourne Bay Beach in Crofton features a short hike to a scenic beach overlooking Salt Spring Island, with abundant hiking trails nearby on Maple Mountain. Kin Beach Park in Chemainus offers a children's playground, sand for building sandcastles and off leash opportunities for dogs. Maple Bay features a boat launch, favourable kayaking conditions, and an ocean view English pub, with beachcombing being a favourite activity at all of these locations. Public transit isn't an option in our area, driving and cycling are your best options. There is plenty of parking and the city is very drivable and parking downtown is mostly free. Public transit is not available in our neighbourhood. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) driving directions will accurately guide you to the house.
