Self contained guest suite in historic village
Our place is in the village of Rhuddlan near a 13th century church and castle, the River Clwyd, the Clwydian Hills, the beaches of Rhyl & Prestatyn, and the North Wales Expressway (A55). The peaceful, historic village has small local shops, tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The modern, ground floor annex is private, with its own front door, hall, bedroom with 2 single beds, bathroom with shower and small kitchenette. It is good for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers. Across the patio from the main house, our space is a modern, self contained, ground floor annex with its own entrance. It includes a hall (with a cupboard containing a hanging rail and chest of drawers for you to use), a bedroom (with 2 single beds, desks, a chair, kettle, TV/DVD player, and a selection of DVDs and books) and a bathroom (with a shower, sink and toilet). We have recently installed a small kitchenette inside a cupboard, which includes a small fridge, toaster, microwave, crockery and cutlery, washing up materials, and an iron. The annex has central heating, which can be controlled by the thermostat in the bedroom. Spare towels and a duvet are in the hall cupboard if needed, and there is a small hair dryer in the desk drawer. We provide tea, coffee, sugar and milk, and also soap, shampoo and toilet rolls. Please ask if you need anything else. WiFi is available. We’ve had a new hub and fibre optic broadband installed recently, but let us know if you have any problems with the signal. Occasionally the hub needs rebooting. If we're in, it may be possible to use our kitchen or washing machine. Please ask in advance if this is important to you. We have a key box on the outside wall of the annex so, if we are unable to be here when you arrive, you can access the key using a combination lock. You are free to come and go as you please. We are very busy but will usually try and arrange to be here when you arrive, and hope to see you again before you leave. Otherwise, we are happy to interact as much or as little as you like. We have lived in North Wales for over 25 years and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, running and kayaking, so we know the area well. We are happy to advise you on places to go and things to do, if that would be helpful, and there are a few leaflets in the information folder in the annex. We have maps and guidebooks that we don't mind lending to guests, but please make sure they are looked after and left behind when you leave. Thank you Our house is an end of terraced cottage, which was built around 1850, with an annex, which was added in 2007. It is in the peaceful, historic village of Rhuddlan, close to the 13th century church and castle, the River Clwyd and a nature reserve. The North Wales Path passes very close by. The A55 North Wales Expressway, the beaches of Rhyl and Prestatyn, the Clwydian Hills (an area of outstanding natural beauty), Offa's Dyke footpath and the Wales Coast Path are a 10 minute drive away. The towns of Conwy and Llandudno can be reached in 30 minutes, and Betws y Coed and Snowdonia can be reached in about an hour, with Snowdon itself under an hour and a half away. Rhuddlan has several pubs (some of which serve food), Chinese and Indian restaurants, a few good cafes (great for breakfast or lunch) and a variety of takeaways, including a fish and chip shop. Shops include a Spar, small Co-op (at the petrol station) and a gift shop. There is a Sainsbury's supermarket nearby. We hope your trip is for a more enjoyable reason, but if you or a relative are visiting the area for treatment at Glan Clwyd Hospital, we are just a 5 minute drive or bus ride away. The nearest train station is Rhyl, which is next to the bus station for buses or taxis to Rhuddlan. Several local buses run through the village. Prestatyn is also easily accessible. There is room to park on our drive or in the street. We can often be flexible with check in and check out times so please get in touch if you'd like to arrive or leave outside of the usual times. It would be very helpful if you could let us know your estimated time of arrival a couple of days before you will arrive.
