Forsaking the bustle of Bodhgaya, five minutes in a 'tschuk tschuk' will bring you to the Shantidevi Ashram - a large, light coloured house in the middle of a peaceful well planted garden. Shantidevi combines the charm of traditional India with all Bedrooms lead off the verandah which overlooks the garden. Each room has its own bathroom, the charm and simplicity of period furniture and impeccable cleanliness. These are important factors concerning all the accommodation at the Shantidevi Ashram. ...designed to be an area of peace and tranquility, the garden inspires and encourages taking time to relax, and is a place where breakfast can be served on request. From the garden there is easy access to a tranquil terrace, covered with a bamboo roof, perfect for meditation or a course in Yoga. There is a well equipped kitchen, which overlooks the garden, available for use by all guests. Due to its position and philosophy, the Shantidevi Ashram has developed a special environment of its own. All profits from the letting of accommodation are put towards supporting the running of an evening school for disadvantaged local children. Along the road which passes in front of the Shantidevi Ashram, you will see all the activity of everyday life: the comings and goings of women in multicoloured saris with loaded baskets on their heads, groups of school children in uniform, shepherds and their herds of buffalo, Monks on bicycles dressed in robes of saffron, grenadine, and orange. Graceful ladies pass by collecting seeds on which to survive, mingling with a slow, majestic elephant contentedly carrying his load while, all the time, the Dudwalla advertises his fresh buffalo yoghurt at the top of his voice, competing with the crescendo of the cuckoo's chant. 'cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo', an experience not to be missed. Please note that In Bodhgaya, while there are many 'tschuk tschuks' - bicycle rickshaws - to be had at any time during the day, they are hard to find after 20.00 hrs. It is essential to make enquiries about the times of departure for buses to Gaya and Calcutta. * Shantidevi ashram , particularly famous for yoga and meditation group . *Ayurvedic massage by our specialist tea (Website hidden by Airbnb) ~<>~ Please note : In India we are often disturb by electricity cut,and so by bad wifi reception, sorry ,be patient is indian.
