The Croft, Lakeland Riverside Cottage
The Croft is a beautiful cottage in the heart of town, overlooking the river and a short walk from the shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities. It is a luxurious, well equipped base from which to explore the Lake District. We welcome all visitors, their children and pets. The cottage has been equipped to provide everything you need for a comfortable home from home including Wi-Fi, TV, books of local interest, hairdryer, dog bed and bowls, travel cot and high chair. Guests are invited to enjoy the entire cottage, including outside seating area and parking for two cars. A wheelchair can be provided if needed. We are available throughout your stay to offer help and advice via an emergency phone number. Cockermouth is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and his house, now run by the National Trust, is nearby. The cottage has lovely views over the River Cocker and Church to the rear. It overlooks the Bowling Green at the front. You can take a pleasant stroll along the river to Harris Park, a great place to walk the dog! The nearest supermarket is 200m away and there are many pubs selling Real Ale in the locality. Try a pint of Jennings, brewed in the town, it is highly recommended. The beautiful lakes of Buttermere, Crummock Water, Loweswater and Bassenthwaite are all just a short drive away, as is the Solway Coast. The cottage offers free town centre parking with a dedicated parking bay and room to park a second car outside the front door. Buses for Keswick, Penrith, Marport, Workington, Whitehaven and Carlisle leave from the Main St 300m away. Trains to all destinations from Maryport and Penrith.
