Somerset Stableyard Cottage
Cobb Cottage is a newly refurbished, self-contained annexe in our stable yard, with beautiful views across the fields towards Glastonbury Tor. Great access to beautiful walking in the area with local towns such as Glastonbury, Wells, Castle Cary and Bruton a short drive away. The cottage is newly renovated and decorated, with comfortable, homely furnishings. Self catering is made easy with the cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, utensils and crockery ready for you. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar as well as oil, salt and pepper are kept stocked up. You are also welcome to fresh eggs from our hens and whatever is growing in the vegetable garden. There is a large sunny yard where you can park your car as well as eat outside and watch the sun go down. We park our cars here, too, but there is plenty of space and our house and entrance are behind the cottage so you are not overlooked. Our house is behind the cottage, and you may see us in the yard seeing to the horses, hens and dogs. We are more than happy to help if you need assistance or local knowledge. Given the Covid restrictions, we are equally happy to only communicate via the phone, if you’d rather. We love the area and are happy to recommend pubs, walks, trips etc., to help you make the most of your stay. Local attractions include: Castle Cary (10 mins) Glastonbury Tor (15 mins) Wells Cathedral (25 mins) Hauser & Wirth Gallery, Bruton (25 mins) Bath (40 mins) Our particular favourite is the wonderful Italian bakery just a mile down the road - their sourdough and croissants, along with fresh eggs from our hens, makes for a delicious breakfast! There are plenty of pubs within ten or fifteen minutes drive, and a Budgens five minutes drive away. Larger shops and a weekly market can be found in Glastonbury or Shepton Mallet. Both are approximately 15mins drive away. The A37, a busy road, is the other side of the farmhouse from the guest cottage. Some traffic noise is audible from the cottage and yard. WiFi is available in the cottage, but our rural broadband is a bit patchy/slow! Limited phone signal, too.
