A brand new conversion of an old Granary which formed part of a substantial farmhouse. The house nestles behind Hadrian's Wall and a quick 7 minute walk will take you past a Roman look-out to a high point of the Wall with views over the countryside to Kielder, the Solway and Scotland. Perfect for walkers with or without a car and set in a large hill farm. The views are stunning. A generous and colourful bedroom has been built in the eaves with a super king bed and a single bed. The large sitting room has a double sofa bed if needed. So the space is ideal for a couple, two couples or a couple with children. There is a kitchenette in the sitting room with a two ring hob, a combi oven and a fridge. At the downstairs entrance there is space for coats and boots, with drying facilities. I live in the same building as the Granary and share a staircase, but the Granary is completely self contained and lockable. If you have any questions, I am often on hand and ready to help. Being 200 yards from Hadrians Wall makes the Granary a perfect place to stay for anyone who wants to enjoy the beautiful Northumberland countryside. Important Roman sites, such as Vindolanda, Houseteads and Birdoswald are close by, and others such as Chesters and Lanercost Priory are also close by. There are at least 8 places to eat out within 5 miles, and the local town of Haltwhistle is 2.5 miles away. A car will give you most flexibility, but you can take the train to Haltwhistle Station which is 2.5 miles away. There is bus (The AD122, of course) whose route is Hexham – Chesters – Housesteads Once Brewed – Walltown – Haltwhistle. We are 15 minutes walk from the Walltown stop. There are four excellent circular walks you can do without a car, and the local pub is a brisk 40 minutes walk down a track. The 170 mile Sustrans Hadrian cycleway passes close by.
