Garden House is a stunning 18th century country house set within the historic Walled Gardens at Woodhall Estate. It offers an exclusive countryside retreat, with an acre of private garden and beautiful grounds to enjoy. Farming and wildlife conservation are at the heart of the Estate. The Garden House has a private gated entrance with ample parking. Four spacious bedrooms sleep eight guests, plus a large kitchen, dining room, sitting room with log burner, TV snug room and games room. The Garden House offers a stunning place to stay with family or friends. We refurbished the house in summer/autumn 2020, and are looking forward to welcoming you to stay with us in this elegant and comfortable home. The Garden House and the Walled Gardens within Woodhall Park were built in the 1780’s, with the Walled Gardens historically providing both formal and kitchen gardens. The Garden House was traditionally the home of the Head Gardener. The house is situated on Woodhall Estate; a family owned private estate, rooted in the values of community, conservation and sustainability. We are still very much a working estate; livestock farming continues in the park, as well as arable farming and forestry across the wider estate. The preservation of the estate's natural beauty and heritage is at the heart of our work. There is plenty to do in the local area. There are many, varied, countryside walks right from the doorstep across Woodhall Park. St Albans, Cambridge and London are all within easy reach. But we think that the very best thing about staying at The Garden House is the chance to relax in a beautiful setting, with an acre of private gardens, surrounded by trees, parkland, and wildlife. If you like bird spotting, squirrel, deer, or even sheep spotting, you will be happy here! Please get in touch with us to discuss any special requests and we will do our very best to accommodate. We can provide anti-allergy bedding. At additional cost we are also able to organise welcome baskets for special occasions, arrange a private chef or wildlife photography experiences. If you would like a hot tub, we can pass on details of our hot tub supplier to you so you can book this with them directly. Costs are approximately £250, depending on duration plus £50 deposit. However we think a stay at Garden House is the ideal excuse to disconnect and enjoy some peace! The Garden House is a historic property with steps leading up to the main front door and stairs leading to all bedrooms and family bathroom. There is also a gravel driveway to the front and back of the house. Unfortunately, the property is not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility. Garden House is listed as an entire home for rental. Please note that the cellar and attic space are not accessible during your stay. We will be available to answer any queries and ensure you have an enjoyable stay. A member of staff will usually meet guests early on in their stay, and again at check out. Garden House is situated within Woodhall Park, on Woodhall Estate in Hertfordshire. Outside the private garden there are paths through the parkland. Pheasants, squirrels and birds gambol through 500-year-old trees. The nearest village is Watton-at-Stone, a mile away, with a good bakery, a butcher and a deli. You'll also find The Bull, an excellent pub for local ales and hearty food. The historic market town of Hertfordshire, Hertford, is 6 miles away, full of independent boutique shops to explore, real ale pubs and many dining options. We are a countryside retreat in Hertfordshire, but with easy road and rail access to London and the rest of the UK. The historic cities of Cambridge and St Albans are also less than an hour's drive away. Perfect for a day trip, to explore, eat, drink, and shop to your heart's content. There is ample car parking available at Garden House. By Train: Garden House is close to various train stations with good connections to London and beyond.
