Gardenhouse in the heart of Carouge

This beautiful summerhouse is newly build (2014) and with pubic transport just some minutes away from Geneva. Tram 12 and 18 stop close by. Beautiful, contemporary architecture and a perfect and quiet place to relax after a stressful day in the center of charming Carouge. terrace, garden, modern kitchen, bathroom with shower, TV, internet Carouge is one of the municipalities of the Canton of Geneva (Switzerland) covering a surface of 2.7 km2. The highest elevation is 386 m (1,266 ft), in June 2014 the population amounts to 21,125 inhabitants and I am one of them! I know, not everybody is interested in history, but I cannot do otherwise. During my two years living here I learned that the „Carougoise“ are very proud of their past. Here it comes: In 1754 Carouge was „invented“ by the duke of Savoy envisioning it as a trading competitor to Geneva, which was just 2 km away, on the other side of the river Arve. Due to religous tolerance the small hamlet quickly (18 years) grew to a prosperous town of fourthousand and became a refuge for Catholics and Jews and for Protestants tired of the puritan mentality ruling in Geneva. These days I like to stroll through the criss-crossing streets and attractive buildings develloped by Turinese achitects. Behind the facades of this little town lie many surprises. And if you are looking for something outstanding, an unusual gift, a blues guitar playing hairdresser, a charming café or the nocturnal bustle with life music: Carouge is a refuge even nowadays, just in another way.
