Amazing Mountain Chalet with Epic Views
Our charming mountain ski chalet is surrounded by meadows and mountains, minutes from skiing and perfect for hiking, cycling or relaxing. It sits across 3 floors, boasting a terrace with unforgettable views. Feast on grapes, pears and apples in our wild garden and maybe catch a glimpse of our rare resident stone marten. The chalet is perfectly positioned for exploring Lake Bled, Ljubljana and Slovenia’s beautiful sights. Stone Marten Chalet is good for couples, families, and small groups. The house is a three bedroom chalet style house with a large garden. There are two bedrooms on the first level. A master double with a second bedroom off of that room with two bunk beds. This is really a children's room as access is through the master. There is a full bathroom on this floor. The second floor has a bathroom, open plan living room and kitchen and doors leading out to the huge terrace. The kitchen has a large dishwasher, oven, hob etc. The living room has a large corner sofa that turns into a large and comfortable double bed. The top floor is newly converted bedroom (previously 2 bedrooms) with two double beds. It has a balcony with stunning views. The entire chalet is accessible to guests. There is parking for 2-3 cars on site. My wife and I are pretty much always available to answer questions about the house or the area via email. Feel free to call at any time. We have a housekeeper that lives about 30 minute drive away and come by when needed (with some notice). Our house sits on the mountainside overlooking the stunning Ljubljana valley. The house itself is in a collection of about ten family homes a short distance up the mountain from the village of Stiska Vas, although ours is set back from other houses and very private. Most local facilities are located in the pretty town of Cerklje 10 minutes drive from the chalet on the valley floor. Facilities include ATM, supermarket, bakery, butcher, petrol station, bank, pharmacy and a variety of excellent pizzerias and restaurants. Most local facilities are located in the pretty town of Cerklje 10 minutes drive from the chalet on the valley floor. You can access from a car park about 10 minutes drive up the mountain or the main gondola is about 15 minutes drive down the mountain. It's a good base for Kranjska Gora and Vogel ski areas too. The airport is about a 15 minute drive from the house (don't worry you don't hear any plane noise). About 25 minutes away is the city of Kranj and about 35 minutes drive is Ljubljana. The only way to get to and from the house is by car. We tend to rent from the airport which is very reasonable and we tend to get almost new cars every time. There are buses to and from Cerkjle and the airport/Ljubljana etc but realistically you need a car. Internet is through a 4G modem in the house. Speeds are fine (c.3-5MBPs) with unlimited downloads (this was recently upgraded to unlimited so please disregard reviews that state there is a limit). The speeds can be impacted by bad weather and when there is a lot of snow or rain/ storms it can sometimes cut out. There is a TV at the house with Roku so you can watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and various news channels. It also has local channels anda lot of stuff in English with subtitles. We also have a chromecast and HDMI cables if you want to download movies etc and play them on the large TV. There is also a DVD player at the house. Please note that if the weather affects the internet it also affects Roku. There is a Croatian Kuna (pine marten) that lives in the forest out back and sometimes runs over the roof at night as a shortcut, so don't be alarmed by scratching on the roof. There are also a few neighbourhood cats that might pay a visit if you're friendly to them. However we ask that you do not leave any food out as this can attract wildlife. The garden is huge and wonderful with steep terraces and deliberately left wild in most places (terraces next to the house are maintained) to encourage the beautiful wild flowers. Feel free to pick and eat the apples, plums, grapes, wild strawberries and pears that grow in the garden. The steps, however, are steep and you should use at your own risk. Children should be supervised at all times and you take responsibility of the decision to allow them access. You also understand that the hosts do not live nearby and whilst we do our best to accommodate all requests and help as best we can, we will need our guests to be somewhat proactive and independent in solving minor issues such as changing a light bulb or a gas bottle. Our housekeeper lives about 30 minutes drive away but is not available 24/7 to come to the chalet.
