Cosy cottage nestled between Exmoor and the coast

Toll Cottage is a quaint 18th century property situated in the heart of the village of Washford, hosted by West Somerset Breaks. Nestled between Exmoor and the Quantocks Hills it’s the ideal base to explore the surrounding beauty spots. It also serves as the perfect spot for four legged friends and those who love the great outdoors with access to our privately owned fields accessed via the rear of the cottage. The field is a gateway to footpaths straight on to Exmoor National Park. The cottage itself retains many of the traditional features it was built with, including an inglenook fireplace with log fire, flagstone flooring and inset wooden beams in the bedroom. The kitchen has oak worktops and all the appliances you need to make your stay a pleasant one. We have also recently purchased a brand new sofa bed to allow more flexibility for our guests. There is private off road parking, gas central heating and a supply of logs and kindling for your stay. Along with WiFi, the property also has Netflix along with some board games, books, a Wii and DVD’s. It also serves as the perfect spot for four legged friends and those who love the great outdoors with access to our privately owned five acre field accessed via the rear of the cottage. The field is a gateway to footpaths straight on to Exmoor National Park. There is private parking to the rear of the property and the cottage is located on the A39 so it's only a short walk to the nearest bus stop and steam railway. We live in the village so we can be on hand if needed in person or via the phone or email. We will provide you with a welcome pack on arrival and a local information guide. The cottage is perfectly placed to walk to many of the area’s top visitor attractions including the West Somerset Steam Railway and Washford Railway Museum, English Heritage site; Cleeve Abbey, Torre Cider Farm and the 19th century Washford to Watchet mineral line. There are also two highly rated pubs in the village and a local Post Office/ shop directly opposite the cottage. The property benefits from off road parking with access to a backdoor straight in to the cottage. It's located next to the A39 so public transport is easily accessible within a minutes walk away. Buses run regularly to the seaside town of Minehead and towards the County town of Taunton where a well connected train station runs trains from all across the country. In a car you can access some of the most beautiful places on Exmoor within minutes, while Minehead is just seven miles away and the traditional harbour town of Watchet, just three miles. The off road parking is to the rear of the property, in a courtyard parking area directly off of the main road. If you'd prefer not to use this area there is on street parking freely available outside the front of the cottage (outside the hairdressers). The property is located on Abbey Road in Washford, as a former Toll Cottage this means it is next to the A39 road, however the property benefits from double glazing and has blackout blinds in the bedroom. We allow up to two dogs, however we ask pets remain downstairs and off of the bed and sofa. The second bed is a sofa bed in the living room.
