Sidestrand is a great place to come to relax, enjoy the doorstep woodland and coastal path walks, spend lazy days on one of the many nearby sandy beaches, or to explore the multitude of attractions Norfolk has to offer, perfect for people of all ages. It is a small hamlet situated just a mile south of Overstrand, 3 miles from Cromer and 3 miles north of Mundesley. Just a mile up the coastal road you will find Overstrand, an attractive yet understated seaside village which has a number of amenities such as a family pub-restaurant with a great outdoor children play area, a hotel restaurant/bar, a village store and post office, a dog friendly cliff top cafe offering homemade dishes and cakes - as well as a seafood shack. In the summer months you will also find a mobile chippy offering 'a bucket of chips' with amazing different toppings. The beach here is sandy, wide and perfect for lazy days sunbathing or brisk dog walks along the promenade. A mile inland you will find Northrepps which has a fantastic dog-friendly pub-restaurant offering superb homemade fares. A further 2 miles up you will come to the traditional seaside town of Cromer - known of the Gem of North Norfolk with its iconic pier, lifeboat station and Pavilion theatre (which stages shows at the end of the pier). The streets and alleys are crammed with shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes and although the fishing industry has declined over the years, Cromer Crabs are still as famous as ever and really should be sampled. Just 3 miles south of Sidestrand along the coast road you will find Mundesley - a lovely little family resort with a wonderful blue flag sandy beach which stretches for miles and is perfect for sunbathing, walking, swimming, body surfing or surfing - and is patrolled by the RNLI during the summer months. Here you will find a great choice of cafes, takeaways, a chemist, butcher, fishmonger and independent craft shops and boutiques. There is also a Tesco Metro and Spar - both with cash machines. The barn really is the perfect base to discover North Norfolk, especially the nearby seaside town of Sheringham and the beautiful town of Holt, the National Trust properties in the vicinity (Fellbrigg, Blickling and Sheringham Park) and the famous Norfolk Broads. The area has many attractions for children too. There is the Bure Valley Railway, JR's indoor play, Pensthorpe National Park, Bewilderwood, Wroxham Barns, Pleasurewood Hills, North Norfolk steam railway, The Dinosaur Park, Cromer Amazona Zoo. Details of all of the above, plus much more will be included in my extensive Guest Handbook in the barn or via my Airbnb Guest Guidebook. To make the most of your visit it is recommended that you come by car - and there are two dedicated parking spaces available at the property. The nearest train station is Cromer (3 miles) which is approximately 30 mins train journey from Norwich. There is also a bus service which runs regularly along the coast road to Cromer, linking to many other routes. Note: change over day is usually Friday for weekend/weekly stays. Minimum stay 3 nights. 4 night mid-week stays are also available Monday to Friday. Should your requirements be outside of these parameters, please contact me for consideration.
