Appletree Hill Gite
Close to the historic medieval town of Villedieu les Poeles, this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquility and peace of a delightful part of Normandy. The gite and rooms look out onto pretty gardens with views of our own orchard and the hills beyond. Your hosts, Jeanette and Brian provide a warm welcome to everyone from all backgrounds. Their aim is to ensure your stay is a relaxing and memorable holiday. A pretty cottage with sumptuous bed linen and all modern amenities. A log burner ensures the cooler evenings are warm and cosy. The bathroom has a walk in shower and freestanding bath. Garden and rural views from each bedroom provide the nicest start to the day! Looking out over the orchard from the hot tub with a glass of bubbly can be the perfect end to the day! A games room in the barn and indoor fireplace for cooking on means even the rainiest of evenings can be enjoyed. Brian and I live on site and are happy to provide any assistance or information during your stay. We can be contacted by email, phone or in person. Our interaction is led by the guests, we can socialise as much or as little as you choose. Set in rural Normandy the area is picturesque and incredibly peaceful. With no light pollution dark skies are stunning, the Milky Way clearly visible on a clear night. Saint Maur des Bois is a small French village with pretty church and Town hall. There is an excellent boulangerie/patisserie 1.5km away in Chapelle-Cecelin and a bar and restaurant 2km away in Saint Cecile. Due to our rural location a car is a benefit here. The ports at Caen and Cherbourg are just over an hour away and Calais/ Eurotunnel a four hour drive on good roads with very little traffic. Flights into Dinard from London Stanstead operate with Ryanair all year and from East Midlands from spring. Car hire is available at the airport.
