The Boathouse is a brand new, self-contained one bedroom annex set within 4 acres of private gardens. It's a glorious rural retreat, perfectly situated just off the famous Helford River, between the popular villages of Port Navas and Mawnan Smith. The bustling seaside town of Falmouth is a 15 minute drive away. It's a great location for a range of activities - from country walks, kayaking, windsurfing, surfing, sailing, beaching, golf, spa days, or simply relaxing. The perfect getaway! The Boathouse is newly-renovated this season to the highest standards. Accessed via a private driveway and completely private, you can park immediately outside the front door. Entering via the ground floor you find a small hallway, with the ash staircase on your right and shoe and coat storage on your left. Immediately in front of you is the shower-room, with a large power-shower, vanity unit and bathroom facilities. Following the hallway around to the right you enter a generous open plan kitchen/living area with an island breakfast bar, kitchen facilities including a dishwasher and granite worktops, and a comfortable living-room area with a smart tv and woodburner. Upstairs is a kingsize bed, set within the eves and with velux windows which capture the night sky (due to the lack of light polution, the stars are amazing). A doorway from the bedroom leads onto your own private balcony with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. Here you'll find a seating area, garden table and chairs and a BBQ for alfresco dinners. The Boathouse is surrounded by off-road country walks, and you can follow several established paths both out to the coastal footpaths and inland across open countryside. The Boathouse comes with a balcony, generous private garden and parking for two cars. All modern-day necessities are provides, including Wifi, a washer/dryer, ironing board, hair dryer, dish washer, modern cooker with induction hob, power shower, smart TV, fridge / freezer, BBQ as well as the essentials like towels, bed linen etc. The Boathouse has everything you need for the perfect rural retreat. It's a true home-from-home. Sarah and Alex live in the main house, located some 40 yards from The Boathouse at the bottom of the driveway. We both work, so we won't always be at home, but we will be available to help and answer any questions you might have. The Boathouse is located in Bosanath Valley, 100 yards from the Helford River and just over one mile from the centre of the well served village of Mawnan Smith, whose day-to-day amenities include a village store, thatched pub (The Red Lion), doctors surgery, church, hairdressers, tapas restaurant and garage. The yachting haven of Port Navas, whose sheltered sailing waters lead directly onto the beautiful Helford River and the sea beyond, is just a 10 minute walk away. The small but perfectly formed Port Navas Yacht Club can be found perched on the quay - a great location for a quick pint or evening meal. Helford Passage, home of the Ferry Boat Inn, is an approximate five minute drive away or half hour walk; before which are the leisure facilities and golf course at the Budock Vean Hotel; a short distance after which are the internationally renowned National Trust gardens at Trebah and Glendurgan. The Trengilly Wartha Inn, a very popular country gastro-pub, is approximately 10 minutes by car. The port of Falmouth is approximately five miles away, and the cathedral city of Truro is approximate thirty/thirty five minutes drive away, from where there is a regular main-line rail link to and from London Paddington. The wildlife surrounding The Boathouse is fantastic, with plenty of woodpeckers, owls, foxes, badgers, pheasants, deer etc. The Boathouse is surrounded by off-road country walks, and you can follow several established paths both out to the coastal footpaths and inland across open countryside. The nearby village of Mawnan Smith is on a bus route, but really to get the most out of your stay, you need your own transport. Please note that The Boathouse is down a tight lane, so access for very large vehicles is limited. The Boathouse has off-road parking for two cars. You'll be emailed a welcome pack prior to your stay, which includes directions on how to find us, information about the property and top tips for local places to visit, eat and drink. We do recommend following the directions in the welcome pack, as this is the easiest way to find us. We also recommend downloading or printing the pack prior to your journey so you have the directions handy, as mobile phone signal is limited close to The Boathouse.
