Self-Contained Cabin in Tranquil Rural Setting
We are only 2km off the Bruce Highway on 26 acres. With lots of space, plenty of wildlife including our family of kangaroos, our place is a great place to take time out on your journey to other places, or just enjoy the area. In the country yet very central, with Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Childers within 25 mins drive, or Burrum Heads & Toogoom beaches within 15 mins drive. Burrum Golf Club across the road, Burrum River minutes away. Want something a little different? Come & stay & unwind! Want something a bit out of the square? Our boho cabin is actually a huge onsite 80s caravan & Australian donga cleverly designed into a private dwelling (measuring 12m x6m) with all the amenities to make for a comfortable stay. It contains a lounge with good sized TV & ample movies to watch; a work desk & office chair; a queen sized bed in a separate room, 2 single beds at the far end of the lounge room, a dining area, kitchen with a fridge/freezer, electric oven, slow cooker, sandwich press, microwave & all the cooking utensils you need, a laundry tub, shower, toilet & vanity basin. Whilst we don't claim it's perfect (due to era), if you are comfortable with a homely atmosphere full of character, in a sparkling clean (as per our reviews) place to stay, then our boho cabin is for you! If you lean towards ultra-modern, sleek, smooth and clinical, then we may not suit you. Modern air conditioning is installed in the lounge & bedroom. To help keep our pricing so reasonable, please be mindful, set temperatures to reasonable levels & turn this off when out. No need to pack an iron or hair dryer. These are also for use in the cabin, along with an ironing board, drawers & 2 closets with coat hangers. We also have a port-a-cot & highchair if you are travelling with a baby. Please supply your own bedding for port-a-cot. Enjoy sitting on the front verandah overlooking our pond filled with beautiful water lilies. If you are lucky, you could catch the kangaroos coming down to the pond for a drink! Go for a wander through the back of our property and sit around sandstone rocks on Fig Tree Hill. It's a lovely spot to sit back, read a book, have a drink, enjoy the wildlife & relax. We have NBN WiFi . As it is boosted from the main house, it is strongest on your verandah, outside - even up on Fig Tree Hill! Also nice to sit in the peace and privacy on your verandah and catch up on your emails, business matters or blog. You can even get it on Fig Tree Hill! We have 26 acres that you are welcome to explore and seek out our wildlife. At present we are in the midst of beautifying the back part of our land. Our property is fully fenced and we have a mown track around the perimeter for ease of walking. We take our Super Host status very seriously and strive to make your stay comfy and enjoyable. Please, if you have any issues, let us know. Our doors are always open if you would like to come over for a chat or if you have any queries. We enjoy meeting new people and finding out about their travels. If you would rather keep to yourself/ves, that is fine too. We are very easygoing and flexible. We can give you some ideas of great things to do and see in our wider area. Please don't hesitate to pop over to the house if you need anything or need to know anything. Howard is a lovely safe and secure area to stay in. We are only about 10 minutes walk (1km) to the small township of Howard. You will be very pleasantly surprised by the shops here. We have 2 supermarkets - an IGA and a Four Square, a butchery (great meat), a bakery, a cafe, a chemist, a take-away shop, a newsagency, a post office, a garage, a pub, a bottle shop, a doctor's surgery, a drapery, a laundrymat, a small library, an information centre, a golf course and a community centre. Great Howard monthly markets, with over 120 stalls, is held the first Saturday of every month except for January. Great meals at the local pub and a courtesy van to pick you up and bring you back if you ring and book - (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). You will need your own transport, public transport is very limited. The tilt train stops at Howard. There is a local bus that goes to Maryborough and return Monday to Friday. If you would like to have a fire (fire bans not pending) in our contained fire pit outside, please chat with Don or myself. It is lovely to sit around an open fire on a starry night. A free app on your phone, Skyview, is worth installing to identify all the planets. We share our home with Mr Pippin, our very shy, spoiled black cat, and Flicker our beautiful friendly quarterhorse. Flicker loves a pat and a rub and is curious to meet new guests. She would love you to go and say hello (and give her a carrot, apple or slice of bread). With a golf course straight across the road, it's handy for the keen golfer or a lovely course to go for a walk around.
