Spacious accommodation on the ground floor of an architecturally designed home in the exclusive leafy suburb of Whitfield. It is ten minutes drive from the city centre of Cairns. * This unit has a private Entrance & Exit A modern, spacious room on the ground floor of our home that includes a queen bed, lounge area , kitchenette (kettle/toaster/microwave/fridge - no stove) and ensuite. This room opens onto a large patio, tropical garden and swimming pool. The garden is surrounded by native trees, home to many birds and butterflies. Our home is situated in a quiet street with views of the Whitfield Range. Our accommodation is approved by the Cairns City Council. Your accommodation has it's own access via the private patio and is separate from the main dwelling on the first floor. There is a beautiful cat that occasionally visits the garden. We are friendly, well travelled hosts that have spent many years participating in house exchanges throughout Europe. We will happily interact with our guests as much or as little as you desire. We both work full time but are happy to assist with suggestions on what to do and see depending on your interests. Whitfield is a beautiful leafy suburb nestled under the Whitfield Range 10 minutes drive to the city centre. Our street is a private and quiet cul-de-sac. We are close to the Edge Hill village precinct which has a number of trendy cafes and restaurants; the newly opened Woodward Street Bakery is 400 metres walk from our home and a popular little cafe. We are close to the Flecker Botanical Gardens (showcases the region's indigenous species and tropical plants from across the globe) ; the Tanks Arts Centre (an iconic multi-arts facility that offers a myriad of events, exhibitions and programs) ; the Mount Whitfield Conservation Park (home to rainforest, eucalyptus, grasslands and the very popular Red, Blue, Yellow and Green Arrow walking tracks). Cairns is the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforest. It is an ideal city to base yourself while exploring this spectacular region. There is so much to see and do! We are close to the city and 5 minutes walk from a bus stop. Translink route 131 provides an hourly service to the city. The cost of a taxi to the airport or the city is approx $25. We provide bikes. The city is within 20 minutes ride. It would be advantageous to have a car which would make it much easier to explore the surrounding tourist attractions. There are many picturesque bicycle trails in our area. We have a range of bicycles and helmets available for your use. We have fishing rods and advice about where to fish. Golf clubs and tennis rackets are available for your use. There are a number of courts within a few km of our house. There are golf courses within 10 km.
