An ideal base for families, walkers, cyclists and surfers, located in Snowdonia National Park, with an abundance of activities on your door step . A detached house with enclosed gardens in the heart of the picturesque village of Rowen just 7km from the UNESCO World Heritage site of Conwy Town. Y Gorlan is a former vicarage built in 1890 and has wonderful views of Conwy Mountain behind Rowen. Awarded 5 stars by Visit Wales for accommodating 7 guests and Visit Wales cyclists and walkers welcome award. Y Gorlan has been renovated to a high standard, including a fully equipped French designer kitchen by Mobalpa, leading into the dining area with solid oak furniture and feature fireplace. The house is decorated tastefully with a log burning fire and reclining sofas in the lounge. There is a second sitting room with patio doors, a piano and an original feature fireplace. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs all with ensuite facilities, hair dryer and fans. The master bedroom has a king size bed with feature fireplace and a rainfall power shower in the ensuite. There is another king size bedroom with a feature fireplace and rainfall power shower in the ensuite. At the rear, a double room with an electric shower in the ensuite. A 4th bedroom with a 3in1 bed which can be made as a 1 x single bed, 2 x single beds or 1 x double bed and has an electric shower in the ensuite. There is a double sofa bed (with a silent night mattress) and WC downstairs. Y Gorlan is freshly decorated and looks amazing. 2 x travel cots (up to 15kg), 2 x high chairs, baby baths (up to 2 years and new born) and safety gates are available on request. Facilities include: dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washer-dryer, microwave, slow cooker, CD & DVD player, superfast fiber broadband, SKY TV, SKY Box sets and SKY sports and garden furniture with barbecue in the large fully enclosed gardens, also secure bike storage and kennel. The price also includes bed linen, towels, heating, electricity, complimentary toiletries and a complimentary basket of logs. This is a no smoking property. There is an area to dry wet outdoor clothing, this is definitely a house for all seasons! There is parking for 5 cars within the grounds of Y Gorlan. The Ty Gwyn pub and restaurant near to the house, serves real Ales and delicious home cooked food. It has a beer garden with a stream and dogs are welcome. It is a well run family pub with mostly bilingual staff. Their famous fish and chips is served on a Friday evening followed by their well supported evening of Welsh singing from 9pm which attracts singers from all over North Wales. There is also a childrens playground in the village a short walk (200m) from Y Gorlan. Y Gorlan is only a 10 minute drive from historic Conwy and its castle. This beautifully preserved walled town is visited from far and wide and has a wide selection of shops, pubs and eateries. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from including an Italian restaurant, a Bistro, a tapas bar and an Indian restaurant. Do visit Edwards of Conwy, the best butchers in North Wales and winner of national awards. You can also take a stroll along the waterfront and enjoy a drink in the Liverpool Arms! Close by there are the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno and the fantastic Bodnant gardens. There are beaches nearby at Morfa Conwy and Deganwy. If you can manage to tear yourself away from the lovely surroundings of Y Gorlan, Mount Snowdon is 45 minutes by car where you can either walk to the summit or take the train, Surf Snowdonia is 10 minutes away, Betws-y-Coed and Swallow falls are 30 minutes away. In addition there are an enormous variety of circular walks and cycle routes directly from your doorstep in Rowen. There is also a Dutch Pancake House half a mile from Y Gorlan and The Groes Inn is 2 miles away with an a la carte menu. Take a leisurely drive around the Isle of Anglesey (the golden circle) and the Llŷn Peninsula which are only just over an hour away. Pony trekking or horse riding in Snowdonia Mountain range is also available south of Betws-y-Coed 40 mins away. For those who like fishing or golf there is an adundance of choice. Conwy castle is a must visit for the spectacular views over Conwy and the estuary from the turrets. Caernarvon castle is 40 minutes along the coast. There is also the scenic Conwy Valley railway line running down the estuary from Llandudno Junction as far as Blaenau Ffestiniog. This connects to the Ffestiniog Railway running to Portmadog which connects to the Welsh Highland Railway running to Caernarvon. Using buses a round trip is available. For the adventurous there is also the Snowdon mountain railway running from Llanberis to the top of Mount Snowdon. Recent local additions for the thrill seekers include tree top rope courses, zip wires and underground cave trampolining. Please ensure rubbish is recycled as much as possible. Extra green recycling boxes are available next to the recycling trolley. Please note we strictly only allow 1 dog per booking unless otherwise agreed prior to booking (eg small dogs). Please clean up after your pet and bring their own bed to sleep in. Pets are not allowed on the furniture or upstairs or to be left alone inside the house. There is a easy to use retractable stair gate at the bottom of the stairs to make life easier. Smoking only in the back garden. Quite rural village location in the centre of the village - no noisy groups, events or hot tubs permitted.
