Le Sauguillon

Spacious 19th century semi-detached farmhouse with small private pool, set in the heart of rural France. Le Sauguillon is a peaceful small hamlet 500 meters from the Gartempe river at Pont St Martin. Surrounded by rolling hillside, woods and fields it offers the perfect place for walking, fishing, sightseeing and relaxing. Le Sauguillon is a spacious 2 bedroom house with a small pool (open beginning of June - end of August), private garden, barbecue area and parking for 1 car. Wood is available for the log fire if required and there are electric radiators in each room. The house is fully equipped for a comfortable stay and includes a living room/kitchen area as well as a lounge with French TV. There is a fan in each bedroom and the lounge and flynets to bedrooms, the lounge and the kitchen. There is an outdoor seating area in front of the house and more dining furniture in the covered terrace. There are also sunloungers, a picnic basket and beach towels. There is a charcoal barbecue outside as well as a barbecue inside the terrace. A cot (with bedding) and highchair are also available. A welcome pack of essential food and drinks are there for your arrival. The gite has parking for one. Le Sauguillon is 20 mins from Le Dorat and Bellac and has easy access to the N147 for travel further away. The beautiful villages of towns and villages of Montmorrillon, Mortemart and Montrol Senord are all within 30 minutes and Lac de Saint Pardoux and Oradour-sur-Glane are within a 40 minute pleasant drive. The nearest cities are Poitiers and Limoges - both have fabulous markets, are and restaurants as well as cultural events and sightseeing. I will try and be there to welcome you upon your arrival. Occasionally, if I have an appointment I cannot change or your arrival time is later than 7pm, this is not always possible. In this case, I will give instructions for you to get the key. The neighborhood is very peaceful, surrounded by lovely walks and wildlife. The adjoining hamlet in Pont St Martin is very pretty with extremely friendly residents and the lovely Gartempe river flowing through. The nearest boulangerie is a five minute drive to St Bonnet de Bellac, or a 25 minute walk taking in lovely rural scenery. It's a 15 minute drive to Le Dorat and 20 minutes to Bellac. Both towns have banks, restaurants and shops. Bellac has 3 large supermarkets. Bussière Poitevine is a 10 minute drive, it houses a wonderful patisserie. Montmorillon (the city of writers) is 30 minutes away. Here, you can enjoy the beauty of the city, the lovely restaurants, cultural events and artisan shops. Lac du Saint Pardoux is a 35 minute drive. There are beaches, walks, advemture parks, sailing, boating, swimming baths and horse riding. The city of Limoges is 45 minutes away and Poitiers 60 minutes. Both cities have much to offer in culture and entertainment. A car is necessary at Le Sauguillon. The nearest towns are Bussiere Pointvine, Le Dorat and Bellac. All have bars and restaurants. Supermarkets, banks and markets can be found at Le Dorat and Bellac as well as cinema, theatre and other places of interest and beauty. If you don't want to take the car, there is a train station at Le Dorat where you can easily get to Limoges, Poitiers, Montmorillon. The beautiful village of Blonde is 25 minutes by car and Lac de St Pardoux with its huge lake, water sports and tree adventure park is 35 minutes by car.
