Korepo Lodge
Korepo Lodge is a self-catering accommodation Lodge for small groups, 4 km from the coastal village of Mapua, in Tasman Bay at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Located in Ruby Bay, half way between Nelson and the Abel Tasman National Park, the Lodge offers a peaceful natural setting close to amenities, and is the perfect place to base oneself for a visit to the Nelson Tasman region. The Lodge sleeps 12 with 6 double bedrooms - all with ensuite bathroom. Korepo Lodge is uniquely located in the middle of the Tasman region. Mountain biking, sea-kayaking, hiking, wine tasting, art galleries and a variety of other activities are all within easy distance. Whether you are doing the Tasman Great Taste Cycle Trail or exploring the other activities that the region has to offer, Korepo Lodge offers a large quality space where everyone can stay together. The large, open plan living area includes a lounge, a library, a casual seating & TV area, a dining area and a kitchen. There are places for one to read, socialise, eat, drink, and enjoy the company of others, as well as to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. For real social interaction, a selection of board games are available. The well-equipped kitchen provides cooking and dining for twelve guests with some basic cooking provisions also provided. Glass sliding doors open out from the kitchen onto a large, covered deck area, and a fabulous outdoor dining space. Surrounded by garden and lawn, and protected from the weather, this is the perfect place to sit and relax. The BBQ is here, so one can indulge in the great Kiwi tradition. Or, if not so inclined, there is a great selection of local restaurants and bars nearby that will cater for most diners. Comfortable beds, good quality linen and bedding, and an ensuite all help to ensure a good night's sleep. The comprehensive fire alarm system and extra sound proofing are added features to give peace of mind. We hope you enjoy your stay. The lounge, library, kitchen and dining areas are all exclusively available to the guests. There is also a large covered deck and outdoor area for BBQ's. We do have lovely neighbours so appreciate that you respect their space. When appropriate. I will always be either available or contactable during your stay. Ruby Bay beach is a short 7 minute walk from the Lodge, and from here you can walk to Mapua in one direction, or at low tide - along to Kina Peninsula in the other. Mapua and the Wharf area is worth a visit for it’s interesting collection of boutique shops, restaurants, wine bar and breweries. An increasingly popular holiday destination, Mapua Wharf is where the Ferry for the Tasman Great Taste Trail links Rabbit Island with Mapua. Bikers can then continue on to either Kaiteriteri or Nelson. Whether biking or walking the Ferry is a good way to get a glimpse of the Waimea Estuary which is the largest semi-enclosed estuary in the South Island, and home to a large variety of birds. The wharf is always a hive of activity and a popular local gathering place, with fishing and jumping off the wharf being regular local past times. A high tide dip at Grossi’s Point during the summer is a recommendation as is an evening stroll along the beach at Ruby Bay with views across to Nelson’s city lights. Public transport is limited so having your own transport is essential
