Situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Porthgain was named one of ‘Britain’s prettiest fishing villages’ by BBC Countryfile Magazine. It was at one time a small commercial harbour used for exporting stone from the nearby quarry. Today, it’s mostly used for fishing and recreation. Porthgain, between St Davids and Fishguard, has even caught the eye of filmmakers. The harbour was chosen as a location for the 2016 film, Their Finest, starring Gemma Arterton, Bill Nighy and Sam Claflin. And if you’re looking to explore the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, this area is an ideal base. From Porthgain you can walk to Abereiddy Beach and the famous Blue Lagoon, a former quarry now popular for watersports. Along the way you can take in the impressive clifftop views. The coast is within walking distance. And you can easily reach the variety of local attractions by car or bus. The accommodation is mainly on one level but with a step up to the bedroom and study area, and a step down to the main living room and kitchen. Plus, the cottage has oil-fired central heating throughout.
