The Old Tack Rooms at Highbrooke House.
A newly converted, modern space within the grounds of my home. The views over the garden and Wych valley provide the perfect rural retreat, especially with our donkeys close by! There are 2 bedrooms both of which have zip & link beds so can either be a super king size or single bed configurations. Both have their own shower rooms. The shared driveway is secured with electric gates. We are located in stunning countryside on the borders of Cheshire, Shropshire & Wales, just a mile off the A41. The hamlet of Higher Wych, is a very rural yet a very accessible place to stay. The Old Tack Rooms is located within my garden with its own front door and private patio area & garden overlooking the Wych valley. The modern, quirky 2 bedroom property is newly converted with a spacious lounge/kitchen with high ceiling. The kitchen is fully functional including a dishwasher, nespresso coffee machine, Smeg toaster and microwave. Both bedrooms have their own private shower rooms with an internal door from bedroom one. They can both be set up as superking size beds or twin beds creating extremely versatile living space. The White Company bed linen and luxurious fluffy white towels ensure your stay is extra special. There are hooks to hang clothes on and drawers with plenty of storage space. If you are travelling with young children there is a travel cot, high chair and small inflatable bath (which can be used in the shower). On arrival, I will provide a hamper with essentials including milk, freshly laid eggs, bread, toilet rolls, a sweet treat etc. There is a first aid kit, sewing kit, shoe polish & even spare tights & cufflinks for those emergency moments!! This is a no smoking property & no dogs I’m afraid. There is secure storage for bikes if required. We have well behaved (usually!!) animals on site including our donkeys, Josh & Wendy, Ember the Labrador, chickens & Big Puss! Please note that the mobile signal is poor as we are in a valley and but we now have WiFi installed (although a copper line so not super fast!) Feel free to wander around my garden & enjoy the stunning countryside. The donkeys in the surrounding fields love to be stroked but watch your fingers! You will have your own door key & gate code so you can come & go at your leisure. I am usually available on site but if not can always be contacted by phone & won’t be far away! I live in the small hamlet of Higher Wych, a beautiful rural location with rolling countryside on the Cheshire /Welsh/Shropshire borders. My property overlooks the valley within which the Wych Brook flows. It is very accessible, just off the A41, and an ideal base to explore historic Chester (30 mins) & Cheshire, Shrewsbury (30 mins), North Shropshire and North Wales. We are situated less than a mile from Iscoyd Park and other wedding venues including Combermere Abbey and Peckforton Castle. Local tourist attractions include Chester Zoo, Cholmondeley Gardens, BeWILDerwood and several National Trust properties. If you would like more of a relaxing break there are a great network of footpaths and cycle routes on our doorstep. The pretty local village of Malpas is just 2 miles away where you will find several independent shops, a local bakery, cafe, pub etc and the larger town of Whitchurch is just 3 miles away with several supermarkets, restaurants, fuel and amenities. There are several excellent local pubs within a 10 minute drive and Alderford Lake, just outside Whitchurch offers first class breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea in a stunning lakeside setting. There are some stunning walks in the area with views across the 3 counties. The hamlet is not on a bus route but buses do travel from Malpas to Chester. There is a railway station in Whitchurch which links surrounding counties and direct rains to Crewe and Manchester. Although very rural we are just 5 minute form major road networks linking Chester, North Wales and the northwest via the A41 and A49. Wrexham Industrial Estate is just 20 minutes away. The dog & cat are well behaved family pets who live in our house but may occasionally be in the garden.
