Arkady. Idyllic Gialova apartment.

Set within 7,000 square metres of olive grove, Arkady offers guests peaceful seclusion as well as proximity to the beaches and lively bars and restaurants of Gialova ( 10mins walk/ 3 mins car ) . There's a well-equipped kitchen on your huge covered balcony so even while cooking you can enjoy stunning views of Navarino Bay and the mountains behind. You have exclusive use of the small pool, gardens, sunbathing area with sunbeds and umbrellas and a shaded eating terrace in the olive grove. Arkady is in its own olive grove of 100 trees on the hill above the Bay, just ten minutes walk from our local beach. The apartment has two air-conditioned double bedrooms and two en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen and dining area is on a spacious covered balcony with blinds, so even while cooking you can enjoy being outdoors. Arkady second bedroom has two single beds. There is room to squeeze in a cot or fold-down bed. Arkady offers a vast amount of space for outdoor living. In the Mediterranean gardens, there are sunbathing terraces and shady places to relax and read. On moonless nights the Milky Way and summer meteor showers are clearly visible. Your 5m pool is great for stargazing as well as daytime cooling off. The pool has a terraced sunbathing area, yoga spot ( mats provided ), a shaded area above with dining table and chairs for meals under the olive trees and for kids to play out of the sun. The pool is operational as soon as the higher temperatures kick in. Its always ready by mid - June and can be ready earlier by prior arrangement. Above the villa is open countryside with tracks leading to the top of the hill. You can walk to the beautiful waterfall at Shinolaka or cycle to Voidikilia. At the beach is our favourite taverna 'H Stasi' - The Stop. The wine grape varieties and all the vegetables are all grown on the family farm. A short walk along the beach takes you to the cosmopolitan centre of Gialova. There's a choice of beach-front restaurants - some real gems, plus a few shops, supermarket and a couple of bars. Guests have their own parking, paths and a private staircase to Arkady apartment and exclusive use of the pool, terraces and gardens. We are in an olive grove with many shady and secret places to sit and relax or read. You have access to all the gardens and the olive grove. I meet guests on arrival and arm them with some tips and info needed to have a fabulous holiday. There's just so much to do and see in this area, it can't be done in one quick chat, but I'll be on hand if needed to book boats, restaurant tables, translate or drive you up the mountain for a real local Greek feast if you don't want to negotiate the bends on the way back after being plied with wine by the owner, Takis ! For late arrivals I can leave a key along with any provisions you need until you can go shopping. The area around Gialova has outstanding beaches, interesting archaeological sites and areas of natural beauty. The village also hosts fifteen fine restaurants serving imaginative cuisine. Many have tables on the beach. Golden Beach just ouside Gialova is a slightly wild, beautiful 3km stretch of safe sandy beach where you can find your own spot or grab a sunbed at one of the 3 beach bars. At the end you can walk up to 'Paliokastro' the old castle. Voidokilia Beach. Famous for its semi-circular beach and the nature reserve behind. There is also a 'secret beach' nearby and ancient tholos tomb above . Romanos Beach - a little further on has an endless expanse of soft sand and waves as it's the open sea. There's a beach bar/taverna at one end ( Ammothines ) with a water slide. Shinolakka waterfall is a picturesque waterfall where you can swim and enjoy a picnic under shady trees. Pylos Town has a beautiful main square shaded by plane trees and there is a restored castle, museums and harbour. It's the place to go for shopping. Methoni castle is a short drive south. Built mainly during the Venetian period, it is the biggest castle in the Med. The Palace of Nestor is 15 minutes north-east. In 2015 a Bronze Age warrior's tomb was discovered. It has more than 1,400 jewels plus weapons and armour. Ancient Messini is one hour drive east. It is well preserved with imposing fortifications, stadium, gymnasium, houses and tombs. Bassae and Olympia are an easy day trip. Enjoy a day trip high into the cool air of the mountains to visit Bassae or leave after lunch and have Olympia to yourselves in the cool of late afternoon. Although a car is nice to have because there is so much to see and do it is not essential. There is a pool bar with meals 2 minutes up the hill and a local taverna at the beach in 10 minutes. From there it is just another 10 minutes walk along the beach to Gialova village where there are 15+ restaurants and a couple of small bars. We will give you a lift or there is a local taxi service if you don't fancy walking back ! Although a car is nice to have because there is so much to see and do it is not essential. From Arkady it is only a 20 minute walk ( half is along the beach ) to the centre of Gialova village where there are 15+ restaurants and several bars. There's a local taverna at the beach 10 minutes away.
