Gîte la Métairie, family friendly, near Puy du Fou

A lovely 3 bedroom stone cottage with lots of character and original features, plus a fantastic swimming pool with sun loungers and covered veranda. Set in a small hamlet, yet only 10 minutes drive to towns with lots of shops & restaurants. Gîte La Métairie is the ideal base for family holidays and is less than an hour to the beach at La Tranche sur Mer or 45 minutes to the Amazing Puy du Fou Park. Open all year and friendly hosts living in the attached cottage. Gîte la Métairie is a well-equipped three bedroom holiday cottage, with the added bonus of a 9m x 4.5m pool (open May until end of September) and a large garden. The pool area is perfect for families and is walled on all sides, so young children cannot enter by themselves. This is a suntrap area and there are loungers for sunbathing and a covered veranda with a large picnic table and benches, plus a long dining table & chairs with a parasol for extra shade. Behind the house is also a private courtyard where you can sit and read a book or have a BBQ There is off-road parking, Wi-Fi and lots of games for the kids to play – table tennis, darts and cricket! In the lounge, there is a TV with UK & French TV channels, a DVD player, films, Wi-Fi and lots of games. The kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, extra fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster & coffee maker. The ground floor bedroom has a double bed, he main first floor bedroom has a four-poster double bed and the third bedroom has 2 single beds. To reach the third bedroom you walk through the second bedroom, so this would be ideal for children. The shower room is on the ground floor and has a shower cubicle hand basin and separate WC. For younger children we have a cot, highchair and stair gates. Unfortunately, we cannot accept Pets. This house is suitable for families, but not for groups of friends. Guests will have access to all areas of the three bedroom holiday home, the main garden, pool area, private patio and parking area. Valerie & David live in the attached cottage next door, but you have your own private entrance and parking area. They will be there to greet you and show you around. They love to meet new guests and often invite them for a glass of wine and a chat. The pool area is shared with Valerie & David, but they only use the pool when guests are not at home, so you have private use during your stay. You may see them gardening during your visit. This Gîte is set in the rolling hills of the Vendée Bocage and just a short walk from the house will give you stunning views over open countryside. The main attraction in this area is the Fantastic Puy du Fou Theme Park - it is only a 45 minute drive away and is the 'Must See' Attraction of the Vendée. You will see amazing shows with Vikings, Gladiators, Medieval Knights, Musketeers and the best Bird of Prey show ever. You can stay late into the evening for the Cinescenie show with over 1200 participants. Other attractions in the area include: Marais Poitevin Regional Park – a network of canals and pretty villages Mervent – set in a forest and with a large lake used for water sports, lakeside restaurants and picnic spots. Fontenay le Comte – renaissance town with a bustling Saturday market La Rochelle& the Ile de Ré – pretty town with harbourside restaurants and bridge over to the island – windswept beaches, cobbled streets and waterfront bistrots. The beaches start from an hour away - with La Tranche sur Mer and La Faute two of the closest. They both have lots of entertainment laid on and have a great atmosphere. You will need a car for a visit to Gîte la Métairie as it is located in a small hamlet with no public transport nearby. The area is great for walking and cycling as the country lanes are very quiet, with little traffic. There are a couple of bikes available for you to use. This property is set in a small hamlet in the countryside, so there may be farm machinery on the roads at certain times of the year. A car is needed as the nearest shops etc.. are a 10 minute drive away. Please note that this house will be clean and tidy for your arrival and it is expected to be left in the sme condition at the end of your visit.
