Gareth has excellent knowledge of local walking and mountain bike routes Goodshaw Chapel is a tiny hamlet on an old pack horse route. A church /chapel has stood in the hamlet since medieval times with the first stone structure in 1542 and the present church dating from early Victorian times. A second baptist chapel across the road is owned by English Heritage and is maintained in its original condition. The hamlet is in a beautiful position on the Rossendale moors affording amazing views over the Rossendale hills and stunning sunsets should you be lucky enough to visit when the sun also does! Surrounded by the bridleways and trails of Rossendale makes this the perfect spot for walking and mountain biking, with rideable access to the 47 mile Mary Townley Loop. For those preferring the hustle and bustle of city life we are just 45 mins from Manchester with an excellent bus service for commuters and shoppers alike. The towns of East Lancashire are easily commutable - Burnley 10mins, Blackburn 25 mins, Preston 40 mins. Rawtenstall is an upbeat town with many small bars, real ale breweries and restaurants and quaint but trendy Ramsbottom is just a 15 minute drive away. The East Lancs Railway terminates at Rawtenstall and offers steam train attractions throughout the year and for those feeling more adventurous, Ski Rossendale and Lee Quarry mountain bike centre are just a few minutes drive away. We were joined in October 2020 by Walter the Hungarian Vizsla. He loves meeting people and eating - not necessarily in that order! He isn’t allowed upstairs but he will greet you enthusiastically as you arrive 😊
