This stunning stone house in a car-free village is ideal for those looking for the ideal combination of style, nature, and rustic living. Enjoy dinner in the huge garden with the Onsernone Valley's best view and all day sunshine. Its balcony, plunge pool, and completely private location above the village are particularly prized by visitors. Locarno is only 25 minutes away. The house is accessible on foot from the road in 7 minutes up MANY steep steps. Only families and quiet groups please! The house has 2 private double rooms, two single mattresses on the mezzanine, and a double sleeper sofa in the living room. There are 3 large private terraces in the garden, with 2 outdoor seating areas, a granite-lined plunge pool, barbecue, and fruit and palm trees. The house also has a gorgeous south-facing exposed balcony. The house comfortably sleeps 6, the sofa bed can sleep an additional 2 people but 8 is tight for a small rustic house. We recommend a maximum of 4 adults. We do not recommend the house for children under 5 due to the steep location and internal stairs. Auressio is the Onsernone Valley's first village and is well-known for its charming stone houses separated by steep flowing streams. It has attracted writers, painters, and intellectuals for over 100 years. Secluded swimming spots are close by, ask your host! The closest ATM is in Loco, where there is also a small grocery store. The closest Coop grocery store is in Verscio. There is a bus station in the village, Auressio, only 7 minutes away by foot. Cars can also be parked here for free on the road at the bottom of the stone steps leading to Villa Edera Hostel. From the bus station, walk up the steps until the church, look at the “Palazeta” stone 50m left from the church and climb through the garden, the house has a small round stone fountain out front. Enter at the main wooden door on the middle floor on the uphill side. Driving in Onsernone Due to our unique road, driving in our valley involves some rules and habits that you may be unfamiliar with. In order to ensure your safety, we suggest you read the following information. There is nowhere to overtake a car. Therefore, if you have a car behind you, please quickly put your blinker on and pull over so that it can pass you. Locals drive much more quickly and they will greatly appreciate the gesture from tourists! You will be safe if you stay as far to the right as possible on every turn. Be careful of cyclists cutting turns! You may park anywhere as long as: -You do not block the buses and trucks. If a vehicle’s route is blocked, you will hear their horn sound repeatedly as they wait for the vehicle owner to move. -You do not block vision on turns -You do not park in places with signs saying they are private or that parking is not allowed -If in doubt, ask a local You will often need to wait for a car to pass in the opposite direction, or for another car to back up, or you may need to back up yourself. Die Einheimischen gelangen so rechtzeitig zur Arbeit und werden Ihre Geste sehr zu schätzen wissen! Halten Sie sich in jeder Kurve so weit wie möglich am rechten Strassenrand. Achten Sie auf entgegenkommende Radfahrer; sie könnten gerade die Kurve schneiden!
