Spacious holiday home in delightful French hamlet

Only 25 minutes from Carcassonne, lies the delightful hamlet of Greffeil, nestled in the foothills of the Corbieres hills. This idyllic setting is the perfect location to enjoy a holiday . The house is on the edge of the village with open views to the hills opposite. A short stroll takes you down to the River Lauquet. Marked walking trails start opposite - through the Corbieres Forest past waterfalls and swimming spots. Outdoor dining in the Mediterranean sun can be enjoyed on the terrace. You'll have the entire house to yourself, a well equipped kitchen, dining / family area and large south facing terrace downstairs. A passage off the kitchen leads to a utility sink and a comfortable snug. Up the stairs from the family area there is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a bunk bedroom and a family shower room with WC and wash basin. Upstairs from the snug there is a spacious double bedroom, a large attic bedroom and a second shower room with WC and wash basin. There is electric heating throughout together with a "Pot Belly" log burner for that warm and cosy feeling. We will arrange for clean linen and towels to be available. The key will be made available by our local housekeeper Whilst the house is managed by Regine (French speaking) we do have English friends in the village who are able to help if needed. Greffeil is located on the edge of the forest, with many marked walking routes up into the hills. Situated close to Limoux, St Hilaire and Carcassonne an ideal base to explore this beautiful region. Whilst there are not any shops in the village the bread van visits every day (except Wednesday) for fresh croissant and baguettes. There is a regional produce shop 10 minutes away in St Hilaire. We spend lots of time enjoying and exploring the river Laquet that runs through the village, there are interesting rock pools, waterfalls, and swimming areas or simply spend time sitting in the sun watching for Kingfishers to come by fishing. On the edge of the Lanquedoc Roussillin wine area, Limoux is famous for Blanquette the local sparkling wine, with many vineyards to visit exploring local wines is a joy. There are regular flights into Carcassonne, (30 mins away) or even Toulouse (1.5 hours away). A car is essential to reach our house. There is parking directly outside the house. We have a BBQ available on the terrace. The local area has many marked walks in the hills and is ideal for cycling or running with circular routes, or simply relax with a glass of the local sparkling wine, Blanquette.
